Entering his fourth season with Miami’s soccer program in 2013, Matt Ward serves as Miami’s recruiting coordinator and also works with the RedHawks goalkeepers. “I am thrilled to welcome Matt Ward to Miami Soccer,” head coach Bobby Kramig said upon Ward’s hire. “Matt brings impeccable credentials as a goalkeeper coach to our program and, having played for (former Florida Southern and current Miami assistant) Coach Hugh Seyfarth, I am confident that he understands the values and priorities of our program.” With Seyfarth being hired as an assistant coach at Miami in the spring of 2013, Ward is reunited with his collegiate coach at Florida Southern. The 2013 season saw the RedHawks post a school-record 12 shutouts in 21 contests. Miami was particularly stingy during its season-ending 12-match unbeaten streak, allowing just four goals during that stretch. In MAC play, MU led the league with a 0.51 goals against average while posting a 0.94 goals against average for the season.
