In his first season on the Fordham women’s soccer coaching staff is assistant coach Matthew Higgins. Higgins will primarily work with the goalkeepers.

Higgins was a part of the Olympic Development Pool (ODP) of New Jersey, where he serves as a head coach. With the ODP, he served as the 05 Girls head soccer coach, where he managed tryouts, conducted practices, and was at the forefront of delivering a curriculum for both tactical and technical sessions. Higgins collaborated directly with the Director of Coaching for New Jersey throughout his tenure.

Prior to his time with the Olympic Development Pool, Higgins was the women’s head soccer coach at Ramapo College for two years. During his time with the RoadRunners, student-athletes excelled on the field and most notably within the classroom, where his 2012-13 team had the highest overall grade point average in the Ramapo Athletic Department.

Higgins had experience as a youth professional goalkeeper. He leant his netminding talents to nine different organizations in England, including Macclesfield Town and Manchester City FC.

In 2008, Higgins created English Pro Soccer in Morris County, NJ. Acting as the founder, president, and owner, he launched and has continued to expand a soccer organization that includes all year round soccer programs and became an official partner of Sky Blue FC beginning in 2015.

An entrepreneur of soccer training, Higgins also founded the Bulldogs Soccer Academy. In 2012, teams involved with the organization competed at the state, regional and national level, competing in tournaments such as, Jefferson Cup, Manhattan Classic, and Top Level Competition All year round.

Higgins has a UEFA Coaching License, NSCAA Goalkeeper Regional Diploma, USSF License, and an English Football Association Football Coaching License Level 2.
