This fall Michael Poropat will joined the Generals as he took over the men’s and women’s program as the head coach. Poropat comes to Alexandria from St. Louis, Missouri and Fontbonne University where he has served as the associate head men’s and women’s soccer coach since 2005. In that time, the women’s team won the 2012 conference championship and, over eight seasons, the men’s team compiled a 53-13-12 record including eight consecutive conference tournament appearances and a trip the national tournament in 2006. Poropat has also been involved in the Olympic Development Program since 2010 by helping identify and evaluate potential ODP players as well as preparing and facilitating training sessions. He also served as an assistant soccer coach for the St. Louis Lions of the United Soccer League from 2008-2012.
