Mike Melton joined the Mercer women’s soccer program as an assistant coach in February 2017.

Melton comes to Mercer from Xavier, where he spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach for the Musketeers. In addition to his coaching duties, Melton served as the recruiting coordinator for Xavier. He also oversaw academic progress as the team recorded a GPA of 3.5 or higher for five semesters.

Melton is also familiar with the SoCon, having spent the 2013 season as an assistant coach at Samford. Prior to his time at Samford, Melton was a graduate assistant coach at Ole Miss for two seasons. He has also coached with the U.S. Olympic Development Program since 2012. He has served as a Region III staff coach and the head coach of two teams. He currently holds a USSF “A” License.

While in graduate school, Melton was also the varsity boy’s soccer coach at Oxford High School and he guided the team to a 2013 5A State Championship. Melton also served as the women’s soccer video coordinator at Ole Miss from 2009-11.

Melton earned a bachelor’s degree in applied science from Ole Miss in 2011 and a masters in recreation administration in 2013.
