Former collegiate All-America and Major League Soccer midfielder Peter Lowry joined the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer staff in 2013 as an assistant coach.
Lowry will assist in all aspects of the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer program including recruiting, camp development, fundraising, team academics and day-to-day field training.
A four-year letterwinner as a midfielder at Santa Clara University, Lowry was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year, a first-team all-league selection and first team All-America as a senior. He was a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and was selected as a finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for contributions on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
After graduating from SCU in 2008 with a degree in finance, Lowry was selected in the second round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire. He spent four seasons in MLS, finishing his career in 2011 with the Portland Timbers.
During his professional career, Lowry started 22 of his 27 match appearances and scored five goals, including the match-winner in a late season contest against Columbus that kept the Fire in playoff contention. As a rookie in 2008, he led the Fire in scoring in MLS Reserve Division play with five goals and three assists over 12 matches.
