Phil Ruskin is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Cal Poly men’s soccer program. Ruskin arrived in San Luis Obispo after serving as an assistant at Stony Brook (2011-12), where he was charged with the direction and training of the program’s goalkeepers and overall recruiting efforts. Ruskin helped the Seawolves program to the 2011 America East Conference championship and a berth into the NCAA Tournament. He also oversaw the development of goalkeeper Stefan Manz, the program’s career leader with 17 shutouts, and three-time America East Midfielder of the Year and two-time All-America selection Leonardo Fernandes, drafted by Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union in January.
