Ryan Cypret joined the Western Michigan coaching staff as an assistant coach in August, 2013. Cypret finished his collegiate career at Ohio State this past season, where he was a three-year starter at second base and two-year captain. Cypret spent this past summer coaching with the Chillicothe Paints of the Frontier League. Cypret played in 189 games for the Buckeyes, starting every game at second base his final three seasons. For his career, he finished with a .270 batting average, 181 hits, 92 RBIs, 127 runs scored, nine home runs, 28 doubles and four triples. As a sophomore he was second on the team with a .323 batting average and as a junior he was 10th in the Big Ten in runs scored and fifth in walks. He was a team captain both junior and senior seasons, helping Ohio State to a second-place Big Ten finish in 2013.
