Sean Brennan was named University of Mount Olive head men’s soccer coach in late January of 2016. Brennan came to Mount Olive from UNC Pembroke. A former collegiate goalkeeper, Brennan worked with both the UNC Pembroke’s men’s and women’s soccer programs as a goalkeeping coach. Brennan previously spent three seasons at Mount Olive from 2008-10, serving as first assistant and as goalkeeper coach. The Trojans posted a 9-7-3 record in Brennan’s first year at Mount Olive, including a 4-3 overtime victory over nationally 13th-ranked Limestone. In 2010, the Trojans held 12 of 17 opponents to two goals or less.
Brennan has spent the past five seasons at UNC Pembroke. After four years as assistant coach, Brennan was promoted to associate head coach last year. The Braves posted a combined 23-10-4 record during his first two years and advanced to the round of 16 in the 2012 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Tournament. UNCP was ranked as high as No. 15 in the nation and No. 2 in the Southeast Region in 2012 (2011) and 2013 (2012).
