Rider University Women’s Soccer Head Coach Drayson Hounsome has announced the hiring of Tara Ballay as assistant coach for the 2017-2018 season. Ballay was a four-year member of the Broncs from 2012-15, earning MAAC Player of the Year and leading Rider to the NCAA Tournament in 2014.
As a senior, Ballay earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America honors a year after being named to the second team. She was the Preseason MAAC Player of the Year and graduated sixth all-time at Rider with 20 career goals and 45 career points in only 53 games due to injuries.
Rider was 31-15-7 in her 53 games played. She was a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team recipient and was named to the NSCAA Third Team All-East and All-ECAC Second Team as a junior. Despite missing five games, she still led the MAAC in goals (11) and points (24). As a freshman, Ballay was named MAAC Rookie of the Year.
Ballay graduated from Rider in 2016 with a degree in psychology.
