Tyler Schatz returns to the sidelines with the Rams for the 2015 season after serving as a graduate assistant for two seasons.
This past spring, Schatz was named an assistant coach at Bowling Green where he primarily worked with goalkeepers.
During his two years with the Rams, he worked with the goalkeepers as well as handling the day-to-day operations of the program. The Black & Gold went 18-13-8 during his two seasons, including two appearances in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
While he was completing his master’s degree with VCU’s Center for Sport Leadership program, he coached the Chesterfield United FC Team. He also spent time during his final college semester working with the Columbus Crew Academy.
Prior to his time in Richmond, Schatz spent time playing in southern Spain with the CD Cieza Professional Team. His playing career including a two-year stint as the starting keeper for Kenyon College, where he helped the program earn a national ranking and its first NCAA Tournament berth in over a decade. He earned his degree in history and statistics from Kenyon in 2012.
