Wichert de Wit enters his first season with the Dayton Flyers. De Wit is a Dutch native and joins the Flyers after ending his professional soccer career. He signed his first professional three-year contract at the age of 16 years old. After that, he played for several semi professional clubs before he came to the United States to play USL Pro soccer. De Wit started coaching soccer back in 2002 with a club in his hometown. After coaching several teams from U6-U19, Wichert decided to focus on goalkeeper coaching. He did an internship as a goalkeeper coach for a professional soccer club back in the Netherlands. In the Fall of 2013, de Wit became the goalkeeper coach for Cedarville University. This team won their conference and their starting goalkeeper got 11 shut outs out of 19 games played and landed a spot in NCCAA Div. 1 Men’s soccer All-American Second Team. In January 2014, he started his own Goalkeeper Academy called ‘Just4Keepers Ohio’ in the Dayton area. Here he provides year around goalkeeper training for boys and girls in the age of U9-U18. Beside running his own goalkeeper academy, de Wit is also Director of Goalkeeping for the CUSA Crew Juniors. Wichert and his wife Hailey reside in West Carrollton, Ohio.
