Early High School (Grades 9–10) Checklist: Getting Organized
This phase is about making your first recruiting decisions—academically and athletically. The goal is to set your trajectory and ensure you don’t miss any critical deadlines that could hurt your eligibility later.
In the Classroom: Protecting Your Eligibility
Confirm Core Courses: Ensure your course schedule aligns with NCAA/NAIA Clearinghouse requirements. All grades from now on count toward your college GPA.
Prioritize GPA: Aim for the highest possible GPA, as this is the most permanent and vital piece of your academic profile.
Meet with Your Counselor: Schedule a meeting to review your transcripts and confirm your academic path meets college eligibility standards.
Clean Up Social Media: Assume coaches are watching now. Audit all social media accounts to ensure they are professional, positive, and represent your best self.
Start Filming: Have a parent or club coach capture raw game footage. You need a library of film before you can create an effective highlight reel.
Get Organized: Establish a dedicated recruiting-only email address and a folder on your computer for transcripts and stats.
