Chase Wileman

Chase Wileman enters his second season as the Friends of Brown Mens Soccer Head Coaching Chair in 2023-24. Wileman, the seventh head coach in program history, comes to Providence with 11 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience, nine of which were as a top assistant, most recently serving as the associate head coach at the University of Kentucky since July 2018.

Duriing his first season in 2022, Wileman guided the Bears to an 8-6-3 record, which included signature wins at Providence and Boston College. Wileman also brought in the 30th ranked recruiting class to Brown in his first full recruiting season.

Wileman started at Kentucky in 2014 as an assistant coach and was promoted to associate head coach before the 2018 season. In his eight seasons, Wileman helped lead the Wildcats to a 100-36-22 overall record and seven NCAA Tournament appearances in eight seasons.

While Wileman was at Kentucky, the Wildcats won two Conference USA Regular Season Championships (2015, 2018) and two Conference USA Tournament Championships (2018, 2021). In 2018, Kentucky reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, the best showing in program history. The Wildcats also advanced to the Sweet 16 in each of the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Under Wilemans tutelage, Kentucky saw six players named All-Americans, four tabbed as Conference USA Player of the Year, and four selected in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Wileman is no stranger to the Ivy League as prior to his start at Kentucky, he spent three seasons (2011-13) as an assistant coach at Dartmouth. With the Big Green, Wileman served as the lead recruiter for the class that won four straight Ivy League Titles from 2014-17.

Dartmouth won the Ivy League Championship in 2011, earning Wileman and the Big Green a berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Wileman also has coaching experience at the North Texas Olympic Development Program where he served as a staff coach in 2011 and with FC Dallas as a camp and clinic instructor from 2007-09.

Prior to his coaching days, Wileman was a four-year member of the mens soccer team at Southern Methodist University where he made four NCAA Tournament appearances from 2003-06, advancing to the 2005 College Cup. SMU won three regular season conference championships and three conference tournament championships with Wileman on the roster. He served as a team captain in 2006 and was named to the Conference USA First Team and the NSCAA All-Midwest First Team. He was selected in the 2007 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft by FC Dallas where he made numerous appearances from 2007-09.

Wileman earned his bachelors degree in markets and culture from SMU in 2007.

A native of Grand Prairie, Texas, Wileman and his wife Chelsea currently reside in Cranston, R.I.

Henrik Sohn

Division 1

James Madison mens soccer head coach Paul Zazenski has announced the addition of Henrik Sohn as director of soccer operations on Feb. 22, 2023.

The program is pleased to have Henrik Sohn join our staff in a director of soccer operations capacity, said Zazenski. Henrik has a great resume and understanding of what it takes to be successful at the college level having run his own program for the past four seasons. He is organized and hardworking and we will look to use those strengths in his director of soccer operations role. We are excited to Henrik start this spring.

Sohn comes to Harrisonburg after spending the previous six seasons at Kansas Wesleyan of the NAIA, serving as an assistant coach with an emphasis on goalkeeping for the womens soccer program before being elevated to head coach for the last four seasons. Overall, the team put together a combined 74-39-8 while he was on the staff that included a 47-29-4 record while at the helm of the program.

Under his tutelage, Kansas Wesleyan saw a KCAC Newcomer of the Year honoree, a NAIA All-American selection and 22 KCAC All-Conference selections. His teams also all finished in the top three during the regular season and advanced to at least the semifinals of the conference tournament. During the final three seasons, he simultaneously served as director of soccer where he had administrative oversight of both mens and womens soccer programs and was an advisor to the mens head coach.

A two-time NAIA Academic All-American, Sohn played collegiately at now University of Providence and received his bachelors in 2016 in health and human performance. Sohn and Zazenski cross paths again, as Zazenski served as his head coach for his first two seasons that saw the Argos win a pair of Frontier Conference regular season titles. He then received a masters degree in business administration in 2019 from Kansas Wesleyan.

Aaron Lewis

Division 1

Lewis moved into the head coaching role at Gonzaga on April 21, 2021. He was named an assistant coach on the Bulldog staff heading into the 2019 season. Lewis came to GU after six seasons as the men's soccer head coach at Corban University.

During his six seasons at Corban, Lewis has led his squad to six straight appearances in the NAIA Championships, three Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament titles and two CCC regular-season championships. In both 2016 and 2018, Corban won its national tournament opening-round match and advanced to the NAIA Championships final site. Also during that time, Lewis spent three full seasons leading the Portland Timbers U23 squad and won a Northwest Division championship in 2017. With the Timbers, he coached numerous players that went on to sign professional contracts, including the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, Siad Haji.

Prior to coaching at Corban, Lewis worked for the Portland Timbers organization from 2010-2013. Lewis' main role was directing the Timbers U-23s program, helping it become one of the elite PDL programs in the country. Seven players from the Timbers U-23s program entered Major League Soccer camps during the 2013 offseason alone. Lewis also coached at Portland Christian High School, where he led the program to the 2008 state title.

Lewis, who also played collegiately at Corban, was inducted as part of the first-ever Warrior Hall of Fame Class in 2010. During his time at Corban (Western Baptist), he helped the program secure four-straight CCC Titles in 1995-1998 and was named the CCC Player of the Year in both 1996 and 1998. Lewis also earned three All-CCC 1st Team honors (1995, 1996, & 1998), while helping lead the Warriors to the 1996 National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship. Lewis was the first player in program, and NAIA history, to be drafted into Major League Soccer when the Dallas Burn (FC Dallas) selected him with the 35th overall selection in the 1999 College Draft. After his time in Dallas, Lewis played professionally indoors for the Portland Pythons of the World Indoor Soccer League.

Tj Kostecky

Head Coach

TJ Kostecky arrived at Bard in July of 2019.

He came to Bard after 20 years as the head coach at Div. I LIU-Brooklyn, where he led the Blackbirds to the 2018 NCAA Tournament in his final season there. During his tenure there, he won three Northeast Conference titles, made three NCAA Tournament appearances and was the NEC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.

As successful as his teams have been on the pitch, Kosteckys squads were also devoted in the classroom. His 2003 & 2012 teams posted the highest team grade point average in the nation. The 2008 & 2015 squads was awarded the NEC Team Academic Award for posting the highest GPA among mens soccer teams in the conference. The 2011 & 2013 teams were distinguished by the conference with the NEC Sportsmanship Award.

Kostecky has a proven track record of rebuilding programs, having engineered successful turnarounds at each of his prior coaching stops. Prior to LIU, he took over an Appalachian State program in Boone, N.C., that had suffered four consecutive losing seasons prior to Kosteckys hiring in 1998. In his only season at the school, he led the Mountaineers to a 13-8 mark in 1998, marking the best first-year record for a coach in the programs history of over 40 years. For his efforts, he was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year.

Kostecky arrived in Boone following a successful run as head coach and director of athletics at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C., from 1994-97. He was handed the reins of a program that had suffered eight straight losing seasons before he led the team to a 46-25-7 record and captured two Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference championships. Kostecky was named CVAC Coach of the Year in 1997 and mentored one All-American and nine all-conference honorees during his tenure.

He began his collegiate coaching career at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he led the Highlanders from 1988-93. NJIT compiled a 67-37-11 mark in his six years, capturing conference championships in 1991 and 1992 and making four ECAC postseason trips. Kosteckys accomplishments at NJIT came in his native New Jersey, where he starred scholastically at Woodbridge Township High School.

Tactically, Kosteckys attacking practice sessions involve a system called Vision Training that he and business partner Len Bilous developed several years ago. This method helps players make smart, well-informed decisions by improving their field vision.

A featured clinician around the world, Kostecky conducted a coaching seminar in Masku, Finland, in March of 2005 on Vision Training. In early 2005, he released a video under the same name for players and coaches to use. Since its release, it has become one of the most requested coaching video's in the country and abroad.

TJ is currently finishing up a self-help book through Benbella books publishing that's set to be released in the winter of 2023. The title of the book is "Eyes up! A soccer guru's guide to scoring big in the game of life".

Throughout his career, Kostecky has been an instrumental figure in facilitating the growth of soccer in America. From 1987-94 he was a coach for New Jerseys Olympic Development Team and was responsible for the training and selection of the states top players for the United States National Team. When he accepted his post at Pfeiffer, he filled a similar role with North Carolinas Olympic Development squad. Several of the players he mentored have played succeeded at the international level, including former U.S. National Team captain Claudio Reyna, and moved onto professional leagues such as Major League Soccer.

Kostecky has also worked with U.S. Mens and Womens National Team members, including Julie Foudy, a captain of the 1999 Womens World Cup Champions. He conducted an instructional clinic for inner city children at the 1998 NCAA Division I Championships in Richmond, Va., for the NCAA Youth Education Through Sports Program and was again a guest clinician for YES at the 1999 and 2000 NCAA Championships.

In 1989, Kostecky founded Soccer Start, a youth soccer program for inner city children. He served as the programs National Chairman until 1993. The program continues to identify and cultivate the abundance of talent in the inner-cities. He was appointed World Cup 94 Committee Chair by then New Jersey Governor Jim Florio and coordinated training site activities in the Metropolitan area for each international team.

A former all-state performer at Woodbridge, he was inducted into the schools Hall of Fame in 1995. He played midfield on the mens soccer team at East Stroudsburg University and received a bachelors degree in health and physical education in 1983. He completed his masters degree at East Stroudsburg in the same field in 1992.

John Powell

John Powell enters his second season as Head Men's Soccer Coach at NNU in the fall of 2022.

In his first year at the helm of the Nighthawks in the fall of 2021, Powell led NNU to an 8-8 overall mark and 5-5 GNAC record, capping the year with a 1-0 win over No. 22 Seattle Pacific. NNU had four players earn All-GNAC honors, including Lukas Juodkunaitis as the Freshman of the Year. Lorenzo Valentini, a first team all-conference selection, also earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors and CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.

Powell came to NNU after spending a year at Arizona Christian University, first named an assistant coach in June 2020 before being promoted to Head Coach of the Firestorm in November 2020.

Prior to ACU, Powell was the Associate Head Coach at California State University - Stanislaus from 2013-2019. After playing for the Warriors, Powell twice served as a coach for his alma mater. His favorite highlights on the pitch as a coach were helping the Warriors advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2015 and play in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) championship match in both 2014 and 2015.

During his time at Stanislaus State as the top assistant, Powell was the lead recruiter and academic coordinator. The Warriors produced 16 All-CCAA players, six All-Region honorees, and one NCAA Division II All-American with Powell on the staff. The 2015 squad owns the Warrior record for goals (54), assists (51), and shutouts (10) in a season.

In between his stints at Stanislaus State, Powell spent time at Modesto Junior College as an assistant coach. The Pirates qualified for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) playoffs and were ranked as high as seventh in the state of California.

Along with his collegiate coaching, Powell has spent the last nine years working with the San Jose Earthquakes Regional Academy Center, Academica FC (CA), and the CCV Stars (AZ).

Thanks to his work in the classroom and on the pitch, Powell was named the 2010-11 Cal State Stanislaus Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He was a three-time member of the CCAA All-Academic team.

Graduating with honors in 2011, Powell earned a degree in business administration with a double concentration in human resources and marketing along with a minor in communication studies.

Powell and his wife Megan, who works in the NNU Athletic Department as the Athletics Office Manager, have a daughter named Harper Jane.

Cody Carlson

Cody Carlson stepped into the newly formed role of full-time Assistant Mens Soccer Coach under the direction of Head Coach Ralph Perez in July 2018.

Most recently, Carlson served as the Director of Operations for Mens Soccer at the University of Portland. He contributed to the Pilots tied-for-second-place showing in the West Coast Conference by assisting with equipment management, video analysis, camp development, team travel, among other things. He also coached the U-12 and U-15 boys age groups at FC Portland and won the 2018 Presidents Cup in Oregon with the U-15 team.

A student of the game, he currently holds his United States Soccer Federation B Coaching License and was recently named the Head Coach for Redlands F.C., which competes in USL League 2.

Carlson originally worked with the Bulldogs from 2014 to 2017, both as a graduate assistant and then in a part-time role. While at Redlands, he helped the squad gain its highest national ranking ever when it reached No. 7 upon conclusion of the 2016 campaign. The Bulldogs captured the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) regular-season championship each of his three seasons while also securing the SCIAC Postseason Tournament title in 2015 and 2016. The Maroon and Gray advanced to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals in 2016 to better the squads second-round appearance from the previous year. Carlson was among the 2015 SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-West Region Staff of the Year in 2015 and 2016.

Overall, Carlson assisted in the development and success of 12 All-SCIAC players, one SCIAC Athlete of the Year, and eight NSCAA All-West Region selections. With academics as a priority, he also coached three NSCAA Scholar All-Americans and a pair of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District honorees.

In addition to coaching, Carlson completed his Master of Arts in Management through the School of Business at the University of Redlands.

In 2016, Carlson also served as the Head Coach of the Redlands High School boys varsity team. In that one year, he elevated the Terriers from eighth place in the Citrus Belt League to third place while also making the CIF playoffs. Finally, he gained coaching experience by leading the IER Pateadores B2000s and Riverside Coras of the NPSL.

Carlson earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Redlands in 2012. As a four-year student-athlete, he competed for the Bulldog mens soccer program and earned significant awards along the way. His presence on the field was unmatched during the 2011 season, as the Bulldog forward earned the 2011 SCIAC Athlete of the Year award. In addition, he was a three-time First-Team All-Conference selection and landed on the NSCAA All-West Region team on three occasions. After the 2010 season, he became an NSCAA All-American.

During his tenure, the Bulldogs won the SCIAC Championship in three of his four seasons and twice advanced to the NCAA Championships. As a senior, Carlson played an integral role in the teams 16-game win streak en route to an NCAA Sweet 16 run.

Furthermore, he shined in the classroom, earning 2011 CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and 2011 NSCAA Scholar All-America accolades.

He currently resides in Redlands.

Nick Robinson

Head Coach

Division 2

Nick Robinson was named the head coach of the mens soccer program in May 2024.

Robinson played a vital role in the Panther's success after joining the staff as an assistant coach in 2021. He was promoted to Associate Head Coach in December of 2022.

In Robinson's time, the Panthers have accumulated a 28-12-13 record and saw much success in the postseason, including a 2023 Final Four run and Super Region II Championship, an undefeated regular season in 2022, the first Sunshine State Conference Tournament Championship in program history, and a Sweet 16 appearance.

Most recently, in 2023, Robinson played a role in developing the programs first-ever National Player of the Year in junior defenseman Sjur Drechsler. Following the 2023 historic season, he saw three Panthers earn USC All-American honors, five USC and four D2CCA All-South Region selections, and six All-SSC honorees.

In his first two seasons, the Panthers earned five All-SSC selections, including Defensive Player of the Year in goalkeeper Luis Tovar Romero, Sr., five USC and seven D2CCA All-South Region selections, and two First Team All-Americans.

Academically, Robinson coached three academic All-Americans and seven academic all-district selections.

Robinson and the Florida Tech Men's Soccer Coaching Staff were named the USC Division II South Region Coaching Staff of the Year in 2022 and 2023, as well as the 2022 SSC Coaching Staff of the Year.

A former star for the Panther men's soccer team from 2009-2011 and graduate assistant coach from 2012-2014, Robinson returned to Florida Tech after spending four seasons as assistant coach of the Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team from 2016-2020.

Eastern Florida State experienced much success during Robinson's tenure as an assistant coach, as he helped guide the Titans men's soccer program to an overall record of 55-14-7. Robinson and Titans head coach Oliver Twelvetrees were named the United Soccer Coaches Association Junior College Division I South Region Staff of the Year in 2019 after leading the Titans to a program-record 16 victories during the 2019 season, including a trip to the 2019 NJCAA National Championship Game. EFSC also made an NJCAA Final Four appearance in 2018.

The Titans won three straight Region 8 (Florida) Championships, appeared in four straight District/Regional Final Championship games since the 2016 season, and finished in the top 10 in the end-of-season NJCAA national rankings in all four seasons. Additionally, EFSC had its first National Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the 2019 season to go along with four NJCAA All-Americans.

Robinson also serves as the head coach for the 6A Viera High School boys' varsity soccer team, where he has held the position since 2015 and accumulated an overall record of 142-26-12. Most recently, Viera captured the program's 4th successive regional championship in 2023-24 while making the state championship game for a 3rd straight season. The Viera Hawks are the only program in Brevard County history to capture four straight regional championships and 1 of only three programs in Brevard County to appear in 3 consecutive state championships. One of the other two coaches was the late Fidgi Haig at Satellite High School between 2001-2003. Robinson led the Viera Hawks to their first state championship in 2022-23 for a banner season. The Hawks finished the season as the only undefeated team left in the state, compiling a 21-0-1 record. Robinson was awarded the prestigious Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year, USC State Coach of the Year, USC Regional Coach of the Year & Florida Coaches Coalition Coach of the Year. The program was also awarded Gatorade Player of the Year & Dairy Farmers Player of the Year honors. Over the last four seasons, the Hawks have won 4 Regional Championships, 3 District Championships, 2 Cape Coast Conference Championships, 2 State Runner Ups, and 1 State Championship. Robinson was also named Bervard Sports Network coach of the year for three straight years between 2021-2023.

In 2019, Robinson also guided his U19 Space Coast United Soccer Club to a Florida Youth Soccer Association State Championship, finishing as the top-ranked team in the state. Robinson is one of only two coaches on the boys' side in Brevard County to win both a club and high school state championship.

Robinson, a native of Victoria, Australia, had a stellar career for Florida Tech during his three seasons on the roster. He was named to the NSCAA All-South Region team in his senior season in 2011 and garnered SSC All-Conference team honors for two of his three seasons as a Panther. He started 42 of 45 games during his Florida Tech career and finished with 14 goals, seven assists, and six game-winning goals. Robinson led the team with 12 points on five goals and two assists, including three game-winners during his senior season.

After graduating from undergrad, he became a graduate assistant coach for the Panthers from 2012-2014, working alongside Chan while completing his master's degree. Florida Tech posted a 15-14-4 record during his two seasons on the sidelines.

Before transferring to Florida Tech, Robinson played the 2008 season at Lees-McRae College and helped the Bobcats go undefeated in conference play throughout the season. Lees-McRae claimed both the Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament championship that season and went on to the NCAA Sweet 16. Robinson earned All-Conference Carolinas team honors in 2008, finishing with six goals and five assists during his freshman season.

Robinson earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 2012 from Florida Tech and his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Florida Tech in 2013. Robinson currently holds his NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, and USSF C License and is in the process of completing his USSF B License.

Robinson and his wife, Skylar, reside in Melbourne, Florida, with their three children, Mason, Harper-Jean & Tyson.

George Nazario

Nazario has compiled an overall record of 209-153-43. He captured his 200th career coaching win last fall with a 5-0 victory over York College (NY)/ Nazario has enjoyed consistent success, commandeering TCNJs soccer program to 13 winning seasons during his tenure. The Lions have tallied double-digit wins in nine of those years and won 17 games in back-to-back seasons in 1996 and 1997. In 2015, the Lions posted a 10-5-2 overall mark, defeating three teams ranked in the top 25. TCNJ has competed in four NCAA Division III Championship tournaments during Nazarios reign, including a national championship title in 1996. The Lions boast a record of 14-3 in the NCAA tournament during those four trips and were national runner-up in 1997. In 2010, TCNJ posted a record of 9-6-4 (7-1-1 NJAC) and finished first in the conference regular season standings. As a result, Nazario was named the 2010 NJAC Coach of the Year. The Lions advanced to the NJAC tournament championship game before falling to Kean University 1-0 in double overtime. Nazario has twice been named NCSCAA Metro Regional Coach of the Year, making him a candidate for the NSCAA National Division III Coach of the Year. The first was in 1996 when Nazario guided his troops to capturing the schools first-ever mens soccer NCAA national championship. In October of 2011, the 1996 mens soccer team that captured the NCAA national championship title was inducted into TCNJ's Athletic Alumni Hall of Fame. Nazario had an exceptional playing career earning All-American honors at Union High School and winning a national championship with the Union Lancers Under-19 Team in 1987. In college, he led Seton Hall University to three Big East Conference championships and four NCAA Division I Championship tournament appearances in 1986, 1987, 1988, and 1990. He was twice named Big East Player of the Year in 1987 and 1990 and served as the Pirates team captain in 1990. Following his collegiate career, Nazario was a member of the Puerto Rican National Soccer Team from 1992 to 1998. Prior to taking over TCNJs mens soccer program, Nazario served as an assistant mens soccer coach for Seton Hall University for three seasons. He served as the athletic director of the Union Lancers Youth Club from 1995 until 1997 and also served as head coach of the Union Lancers Under-16 Youth Team. Nazario is currently head coach of the Under-18 PDA Larsson Team affiliated with the Players Development Academy (PDA). In January of 2007, Nazario was married to Carol Pierce. Seton Hall University 91 Year of Service: 22nd Hometown: Union, NJ Education: BA, Communications Entering his 22nd season as head coach of The College of New Jersey mens soccer program, George Nazario has compiled an overall record of 209-153-43. He captured his 200th career coaching win last fall with a 5-0 victory over York College (NY)/ Nazario has enjoyed consistent success, commandeering TCNJs soccer program to 13 winning seasons during his tenure. The Lions have tallied double-digit wins in nine of those years and won 17 games in back-to-back seasons in 1996 and 1997. In 2015, the Lions posted a 10-5-2 overall mark, defeating three teams ranked in the top 25. TCNJ has competed in four NCAA Division III Championship tournaments during Nazarios reign, including a national championship title in 1996. The Lions boast a record of 14-3 in the NCAA tournament during those four trips and were national runner-up in 1997. In 2010, TCNJ posted a record of 9-6-4 (7-1-1 NJAC) and finished first in the conference regular season standings. As a result, Nazario was named the 2010 NJAC Coach of the Year. The Lions advanced to the NJAC tournament championship game before falling to Kean University 1-0 in double overtime. Nazario has twice been named NCSCAA Metro Regional Coach of the Year, making him a candidate for the NSCAA National Division III Coach of the Year. Director of Athletics Don Grigsby announced the promotion of Tom Gillette to Head Mens Soccer Coach on Friday, April 7, 2023. In his first year, Gillette led the railsplitters to 11-5-3 season in and the second round of the Division II National Tournament for the first time since 2013. Forward Daniel Burko was named SouthEast Region Player of the Year and a First Team All-American.

The coaching staff of Gillette and Parker helped turn around a program that went 2-13-2 (1-9-1 South Atlantic Conference) in 2021 to improve to 10-8-1 (6-5 SAC) and a SAC Tournament Final appearance in 2022. Gillette coached forward Harry Cooke, who was named the SAC Player and Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-America by the D2CCA.

Gillette came to Harrogate following five seasons as an assistant coach apart of Tim Chastonays staff at NCAA Division I Bellarmine of the Atlantic Sun Conference.

In the fall 2021 season, Gillette and the Knights finished with a bid to their second straight ASUN Championship while placing three student-athletes on the all-conference teams.

In the spring of 2021, Bellarmine's first in Division I and the ASUN Conference, Gillette and the Knights wasted no time in making their mark. Bellarmine secured the top seed from the North Division in the ASUN Championship after going 3-1 in league play while finishing the season ranked No. 9 in the Atlantic Region by the United Soccer Coaches. The memorable inaugural season in D1 included an ASUN Coach of the Year nod for Head Coach Tim Chastonay, four All-Conference acknowledgements and an All-Region laurel (Jonas Skulstad).

The 2019 campaign marked the most successful in program history for Bellarmine, which did not lose a match until the Sweet 16 of the NCAA II Tournament. The Knights went 16-1-5 overall and 10-0-4 in the GLVC. Both win totals set new program records. Along with an undefeated regular season, Bellarmine captured the GLVC Tournament title following a 3-2 victory over McKendree and secured its first-ever NCAA II Tournament berth. The Knights built a 30-game unbeaten streak bridging the 2018 and 2019 seasons and finished the year with a No. 13 national ranking. Tomas Bernedo, Micah Linscott and Eddie Williamson earned All-America accolades from the D2CCA, and Bernedo became the program's first GLVC Offensive Player of the Year.

Bellarmine finished 12-5-2 in 2018. At the time, the Knights tied both the most overall wins and the most conference victories (nine) in program history. Bellarmine finished second in the league and earned the No. 2 seed in the GLVC Tournament, where the Knights advanced to the finals. Jonas Skulstad became the program's first GLVC Defensive Player of the Year honoree.

In 2017, the Knights tied a then-program record with nine GLVC wins. Bellarmine's 11 overall victories were one shy of the program record at the time. The biggest highlight of the season came when Bellarmine defeated second-ranked and Final Four-bound Rockhurst 2-1. Williamson was named GLVC co-Freshman of the Year.

Gillette has served as the Director of Coaching at Oldham Soccer Club. He holds a USSF B license and a Director of Coaching Diploma. He has also coached in the Kentucky Olympic Development program.

Gillette played three seasons (2012-14) at Francis Marion University in South Carolina and captained the team his senior season. During his summers in college, he played for National Premier Soccer League and Premier Development League teams Myrtle Beach Mutiny, Tampa Bay Marauders and Derby City Rovers. He began coaching in South Carolina while in college.

A native of London, England, Gillette attended the University of Nottingham in England and earned a bachelors degree in politics. He earned a masters degree while playing at Francis Marion.

He helped St. Olaf capture the 1984 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) crown and an NCAA tournament bid, the first-ever for a MIAC institution. As a coach, Carlson returned to Minnesota in 1991 as an assistant at Gustavus Adolphus College. During his four-year tenure there, the Gusties won two conference championships and earned two NCAA tournament bids.
A native of Illinois, Carlson was an all-area soccer and basketball player at New Trier High School. He is married to Cathy Carlson, Associate Dean of Students at Carleton; the couple has a son, Sam, and a daughter, Emma.
Assistant Coach Joe Hartwell Joe Hartwell joined the Knights prior to the 2011 season after previously spending five years as an assistant at his alma mater Gustavus Adolphus College. He was a NSCAA First-Team All-American central defender for the Gusties in 2004. Hartwell scored five goals and added two assists in addition to anchoring a defense that yielded just four goals in 23 games during that campaign. He has served as a club coach at Dakota REV for several years.

2018 was Ian Eggleston's first year as head men's soccer coach at Soka University of America. Coach Eggleston joined Soka from Cal State University San Marcos, where he was the lead men's assistant since 2014. Ian brings over 20 years of experience coaching men's soccer, primarily in Southern California, at the NCAA Division 2, NAIA, community college, high school and club levels. Ian has also spent the past 20 years working in education as a teacher, counselor, career counselor, principal and dean of students.

While at Cal State San Marcos Ian helped the program record 24 wins over two seasons in the NAIA before transitioning to Division 2 and competing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CAAA). CSUSM beat nationally ranked teams in four of Ian's year working with the team. Coach Eggleston has also spent the last two seasons working with LA Galaxy San Diego's Elite and US Soccer Developmental Academy teams.

Ian grew up near Nottingham in England, where he played for Nottingham Forest Academy U/18s before being recruited to play at the University of Evansville, a nationally ranked Division 1 program in Indiana. At Evansville Ian became the teams leading scorer, captain and MVP while playing as both a central midfielder and forward and helping the team to qualify for the NCAA D1 tournament two of his four years. After playing semi-professionally for the Louisville Thoroughbreds in the USISL for one year, Ian moved to California for his graduate studies. While completing his M.A in Counselling and College Student Services at the University of San Diego, Ian was also the assistant men's coach at Mesa College.

After completing his graduate work, coach Eggleston moved back to England to become the dean of students and men's and women's head soccer coach at Harlaxton College, an American study broad program affiliated with the University of Evansville. Ian returned to San Diego in 2002 to become a founding teacher at High Tech High International a diverse free public charter school, where he taught humanities for five years, before becoming the schools principal. Ian also coached boys and girls soccer at HTHI while also working with local club soccer teams. In 2011 Ian and his wife Catherine opened their fitness studio, The Bar Method Carlsbad and moved up to Carlsbad, where they still live today.

Taylor Thames enters his third season as the Explorers head coach after being hired to the post on August 9, 2021.

Thames finished his first season with a 6-10 record overall, and a 2-6 conference play record. Down the stretch of the season Thames coached the Blue & Gold to big back-to-back wins, scoring four goals in each of those games. Nigel Buckley, a senior forward, and a member of Coach Thames 2021 roster, was named to the Philadelphia Soccer 6 All-Star Team.

Thames joined the La Salle staff with over a decade of Division I coaching experience, most recently at Army West Point.

During his two seasons with the Cadets, Thames was heavily involved in the program's recruiting efforts and was key in helping bring in a stellar 2020 class that was ranked 18th in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer, and the 2021 class that was ranked 19th in the country.

With Thames on the staff, two Cadets garnered Second Team All-Patriot League accolades in Zac McGraw and Keenan O'Shea. McGraw additionally was the first Cadet in program history to be selected in the MLS Superdraft after he was picked by the Portland Timbers in the third round.

During his time on the banks of the Hudson, Thames also played a pivotal role of the emergence and development of Jacob Suppiah. After missing nearly his entire rookie season due to injury, Suppiah returned as a sophomore and posted a pair of shutouts. He finished his season with a 0.88 goals-against average in seven matches played and was key in the draw against No. 19 Navy on Oct. 11 in the annual Army-Navy Cup at Talen Energy Stadium.

Thames arrived at West Point with over nine years of coaching and playing experience after a four-year stint as an assistant coach at Cincinnati.

With the Bearcats, he coached a defense that posted 16 clean sheets and compiled 27 wins. During his second year on the staff, Cincinnati ranked inside the top five in the American Athletic Conference in goals against average, goals allowed, saves and shutouts. He also coached one First Team All-AAC player, five second team standouts and four all-rookie team selections while with the program.

Prior to his time in Cincinnati, he spent two years on the coaching staff at Stony Brook as an assistant. Thames assisted in recruiting, while overseeing equipment, travel, the program's budget and NCAA compliance records. He also prepared and executed the conditioning and recovery programs on top of team training with a specific emphasis on the goalkeepers.

Before heading out to Long Island, Thames served in a similar capacity at Mount St. Mary's in Maryland. In three seasons there, he oversaw recruiting, as well as the design and implementation of training with oversight of the keepers. In addition, Thames was responsible for community and alumni outreach and he worked with student-athletes to oversee their class schedules and provide academic support.

He also has extensive youth coaching experience and is currently the Director of Coaching at Cornwall United, a role he took on July 1, 2019. Thames previously spent time as the Director of Goalkeeping and was the head coach for Cincinnati Elite FC. He additionally was the at the helm of the senior age group Ohio Elite SA from 2015-18.

Before trekking west, Thames held the role of head coach for the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association's (MSYSA) U-17 team and for the F.C. Frederick's U-15 squad. He was instrumental in coaching the keepers with both groups, serving as the assistant director of goalkeeping for MSYSA and the director of goalkeeping at F.C. Frederick. While with F.C. Frederick, he also worked in the Olympic Development Program as the U-18 head coach for Maryland. Under his guidance, the team finished as a finalist in the regional tournament in 2013.

He has a Senior-A level coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation and a goalkeeping diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

A native of the Washington, D.C., area, Thames played in the Washington Premier League (WPL), a semi-professional league, for Washington Elite F.C. from 2010-13.

Before embarking on his semi-pro career, he was a four-year standout at Delaware. With the Blue Hens, he finished his career ranked sixth in career shutouts, ninth in saves, fifth in goals against average and seventh in minutes played. Twice a Dean's List honoree, he graduated from Delaware in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Thames resides in the Philadelphia area with his wife Christine, and their three kids: Chase (6), Crew (3), and Cora (1).

Scott Martin

Scott Martin is in his 4th season as the men's soccer assistant coach at Pfeiffer University.

With over a decade of coaching experience at the youth club ranks, he returns to the college game for the first time since 2015. Previously a member of John Keating's staff at Belmont Abbey College, Martin was a first-team assistant and led the reserve team program.

Martins's soccer career and exposure to the top levels of the game received a boost when he joined Total Football Analysis as a tactical analyst.

Since joining TFA in September 2019, he has made a meteoric climb to senior status, featuring in the magazine each month and working on many client projects, including for EPL, MLS, and A-League clubs.

In addition to coaching and Total Football Analysis content, Martin was also a Match Analyst for Vélez Club de Fútbol for three years, helping them earn promotion from the Spanish Tercera División to the Segunda División RFEF. His time at Vélez CF has also included contributions to the scouting department.

Martin has also published and edited soccer books. His initial contribution to a publication was taking the lead in the "Real Madrid: Preseason Soccer Prospectus 2020/21" project.

Since then, he has penned "Revitalizing Real Madrid: The Tactics and Stats behind Zinedine Zidane's Success" and co-authored "The Soccer Parenting Handbook: Help Your Kids Get Better While Keeping Your Sanity" with Chris Mumford, a UNC-Chapel Hill professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Martin is also a co-founder of The Football Legacy Magazine, which relives the performances of legendary teams through a tactical lens.

While playing philosophies and tactical systems are his soccer passions, it's supporting his players and helping them develop on and off the field that drives his coaching.

Martin believes that culture is the primary driver of performance, which requires close attention to leadership development, identifying internal motivations, and crafting a supportive, yet competitive environment.

Martin currently holds his USSF B License and is an IPSO Foundations of Football Scouting certificate holder. He has experience consulting national and professional teams, as well as top D1s.

John Ciano

John Ciano will begin his sixth season at the helm of The College of Saint Rose mens soccer program this autumn after being appointed in the spring of 2016. The 11th mentor in program annals, Ciano has meticulously positioned the Golden Knights within the upper echelon of the Northeast-10 Conference and on the precipice of national prominence.

Saint Rose has increased its win total throughout each of Cianos previous four years, which culminated in 2019 with the most successful season in the programs 38-year history.

The Golden Knights advanced to their first NE10 Championship semifinal and final matches, had a school record five players earn seven different All-Conference awards, recorded the first 10-win campaign in school annals, and on three occasions were ranked as high as sixth in the United Soccer Coaches East Region Weekly Poll. Saint Rose also finished second in the NE10 with a team 1.16 goals-against-average and lost only one home match all year.

The future holds promise as well. Three-fourths of last years roster was comprised of freshmen and sophomores.
Looking back, Saint Rose had a breakout season in 2018. The Golden Knights finished 8-7-1 overall and were ranked among the top eight teams in the Region in three separate United Soccer Coaches weekly polls.

Three years ago, Ciano guided Saint Rose to a sixth place finish in the NE10, which represented its then best ever finish throughout the programs 18-year NE10 tenure. It also represented the programs first postseason berth under Ciano.

Prior to his arrival on Western Avenue, Ciano served as an assistant coach for three years at nearby Siena College where he was engaged in recruiting, tactics and personnel decisions, goalkeeping training, analyzing game film, and running youth and college prospect camps.

He helped guide the Saints to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) semifinals in 2015 and a 10-win campaign in 2014. Sienas 10 wins were tied for the second most in school history. The Saints furthermore put together their first-ever undefeated home schedule (6-0-2) and were among those teams receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll for two weeks in mid-September. Ciano, whose duties primarily revolved around the squads goalkeepers, helped mentor 2014 MAAC All-Rookie pick John Weiss who registered six clean sheets, one shy of the school record. In addition, Weiss was a two-time MAAC and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree.

Ciano, a four-year starter at Central Connecticut State (2005) and Manhattan (2006-08), previously worked as an assistant for former Siena head coach Cesar Markovic at NJIT in Newark, N.J. He managed the Highlanders goalkeepers who posted a 1.67 goals-against-average in 2012, after recording a 2.03 GAA the previous season; and a 1.44 GAA in 2013. Ciano also helped Markovic lead NJIT to its best ever NCAA Division I record with a 10-9 slate in 2012.

Ciano began his coaching career at Manhattanville where he helped direct the Valiants to a two-year 23-11-2 slate in 2009-10 and the 2009 Freedom Conference Regular-Season Championship.

Ciano played his freshman campaign at Central Connecticut State before moving on to Manhattan for his final three years. He appeared in 46 matches, with 45 starts, was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, and graduated cum laude with a bachelors degree in physical education.

Ciano, who is originally from Syosset N.Y., has played semi-professional soccer for the Brooklyn Knights of the United States Soccer League PDL.

He holds a USSF B License, and United Soccer Coaches Premier and Advanced National Goalkeeping Diplomas. Ciano is a coaching education instructor for Eastern New York and US Soccer, and furthermore has experience with the NY Elite Alleycats FC Soccer Club, and the U.S. Region 1 and Eastern New York Olympic Development squads.

We would also like to take this time to reintroduce our new Director of Coaching and Executive Director, Coach Kris Hall.

Coach Hall is a Northern California native who has US National, Professional, Collegiate, and youth club Director experience. Coach Hall currently serves as FC Davis Head Coach which competes in the semi-pro National Premier Soccer League. Prior to returning to the Vacaville area Coach Hall served as an assistant coach from 2019 Spring 2021 with the Professional team Oakland Roots of the USL Championship League.

Hall grew up in Northern California playing in the local competitive leagues, Super-Y League, and Player Development League (PDL). In his youth career Hall was one of the original classes of Project 20 which we know today as the Olympic Development Program. He rose from the District level to the California State Team, through the Regional Pool to the US Youth National team. Hall played four years of collegiate soccer and finished his professional career in the NPSL and what we know as the USL today!

Over the past two decades Coach Hall has coached at three universities; California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO), University of the Pacific, and California State University East Bay (CSUEB). Hall currently serves as a coach for San Francisco State University. In addition to coaching collegiately Coach Hall takes great pride in the development of youth soccer. Hes always created time to give back to the local communities and has served at multiple clubs as a Director of Coaching and Technical Director.

In 2012 Coach Hall started Maverick Goalkeeper Academy (MGA) and has grown the business from location performing camps into a powerhouse organizations that has 8 locations throughout the Sacramento area, Bay area, and Central Coast. MGA is a leader in curriculum development, tournaments, individual & groups trainings, and coaches education.

In his thirst for knowledge and developing the American game of soccer, Hall has traveled to over 10 countries learning and coaching in soccer clubs throughout Europe. Some note worthy clubs include: Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Ajax, Sheffield Wednesday, Chievo, Valencia, Real Madrid, Borussia Monchengladback, Borussia Dortmund, FC Sparta, FC Utrecht, Twente, Heracles, Sparta Rotterdam, and S.B.V. Excelsior. During Halls travels he has had the pleasure of working with world class coaches such as; Peter Bosz, Frans Hoek, Louis van Gaal, Brad Friedel, Kees Kalk, Edwin van der Sar, and Patrick Kluivert.

When asked which experience shaped his coaching and leadership style the most, he responded, I am an amalgamation of my experiences. There is so much Ive learned from traveling and coaching in professional clubs and within dedicated youth clubs. However I believe the most important thing Ive learned is there is not one right way to do things, but a right way for your club. In every club Ive been apart of, whether a professional team, college team, or youth team, Ive asked who are we. From there we define our culture and build development and business plans to be successful.

Coach Kris Hall joined Vacaville United Soccer Club in June 2021. He also serves as a coach in the Olympic Development Program (CalNorth), Player Development Program (NorCal), and as Vice Chair for NorCal. We are very pleased to have his leadership in the club and welcome him into the VUSC family.

Aidan Rahill was appointed assistant coach of the Fairfield University men's soccer team in July of 2023.

Rahill comes to Fairfield with five years of coaching experience, most recently serving as the First Assistant Men's Soccer Coach and later Interim Head Coach at Manhattanville College. During his tenure at Manhattanville the Valiants achieved a No. 7 Regional ranking and the 2022 Skyline Conference Regular Season Title. Rahill had two athletes named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Region three team, seven athletes named to the Skyline All-Conference teams and the Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The Valiants finished their season with a 9-5-4 overall record.

Rahill also spent 2023 working with the New York Red Bulls as an Academy Performance Analyst, working closely with the U13, U14, U15 and U17 academy teams out of Whippany, New Jersey. His role involved pre-match, in-game and post-match analysis, along with individual clipping and opposition scouting. In his time with New York Red Bulls, Rahill worked closely with many talented players. He travelled with the U15 academy team to Dallas, Texas and played a part in their run when they were crowned the 2023 MLS Next Cup Champions.

Previous to Manhattanville and New York Red Bulls, Rahill served as the First Assistant Men's Soccer Coach and later Interim Head Coach at Coastal Bend College for the 2021-22 season. While with the Cougars, Rahill assisted with the development of weekly practice plans and evaluations of student-athletes. Rahill was also the recruiting coordinator for Coastal Bend men's soccer, helping to recruit student-athletes and attending camps across the world to recruit players. In addition to organizing and planning team travel and breaking down opponent film, Rahill was the team's social media manager, helping to develop an identity for Cougar Men's Soccer online. Coastal Bend reached a No. 5 national ranking while Rahill was on the sidelines in the 2021 season and mentored three All-Region XIV players.

After finishing the 2021-22 season at Coastal Bend, Rahill served as a First Team Assistant Coach and Head Reserve Coach at St. Louis Lions of the USL 2 as they narrowly missed out on a playoff spot. The St. Louis Lions were ranked as high as No. 14 Nationally in the USL 2 during the 2022 season.

Prior to making his way to Coastal Bend, Rahill served as an Assistant Coach at Barca Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina earlier in 2021, conducting practice sessions while joining a travel team that made its way along the east coast throughout the summer. Rahill also served as a coach for the Football Association of Ireland in 2018. He currently holds a USSF "C" License.

Rahill was a member of the Missouri Valley College men's soccer team from 2017 to 2021, serving as the team's vice-captain in his senior year. Missouri Valley mens soccer would claim the NAIA National Championship in the 2020-21 season for the first time in the programs very successful history. Rahill was also a 2020 NAIA Scholar Athlete whilst a student-athlete with the Vikings. Rahill played for the St. Louis Lions of USL League Two in 2019 before playing for Alamo City SC out of San Antonio, Texas in 2020.

Rahill is a 2021 graduate of Missouri Valley College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management along with a Minor in Accounting. He currently resides in Fairfield, CT.

Uy joined the NJIT mens soccer staff as an assistant coach in April 2016, having most recently served as an assistant coach at Adelphi University, which made its first appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2015.

The Adelphi Panthers finished with a 13-5-3 overall mark and received a third seed in the East Region of the NCAA Division II mens soccer tournament.

A 2011 graduate of Fairfield University with a degree in sociology and currently pursuing his maters in sports management at Adelphi, Uy served as an assistant under new NJIT head coach Fernando Barboto at Iona College from August 2014 to January 2015. In 2014, Iona finished 10-7-3 and advanced to the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament.

A four-year player for Fairfield, which also competes in the MAAC, Uy was selected Fairfield Freshman Athlete of the Year in 2007. In 2008, Uy was named to the All-MAAC second-team and All-Tournament team, as the Stags captured the MAAC title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I tournament. Matt received athletic recognition on the All-MAAC first-team in 2009 and 2010 and NSCAA/adidas All-Region team in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

In 2008, Uy was invited to the u20 national team camp, followed by a tournament in Mexico hosted by Chivas Guadalajara and spent time with second division club FK SIAD MOST in Czech Republic.

After graduation, Uy continued his playing career professionally in Asia, playing for the top division in the Philippines, where he earned 10 international caps with the u23 mens national team. With the u23 mens national team, Uy participated in the Asia Cup Qualifiers, World Cup 2018 Playoff Qualifier and Suzuki Cup.

He played for Global FC (2012-2013) and Loyola Meralco Sparks (2013) of the United Football League.

The Long Island native attended high school at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida (2006-2007) after being selected for the 2007 US Residency Program, where he earned over 40 caps with the u17 national team.

He played in the National Championship game as a member of the u20 New York Red Bulls and appeared in the final four with the 2011 Long Island Rough Riders PDL.

Uy holds NSCAA National diploma and USSF C coaching licenses.

David Kulik has guided the Johnson & Wales (RI) University mens soccer program to seven Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) finals appearances and five conference championships (2013-15,2019,2022) since his arrival in April 2012. In that time, the Wildcats have posted a [156-44-28](tel:156-44-28) record (.746 winning pct.); the 156 wins rank No. 18 in the nation. During that span, JWU recorded 112 shutouts to go along with a team goals-against average (GAA) of .755 both of which rank near the top of NCAA statistics.

Kulik owns a career record of [259-129-51](tel:259-129-51)(.648) over 23 seasons split between JWU and Clark (MA) University he also serves as an Assistant Athletic Director at JWU. Those 259 career wins rank him second among active Division 3 Men's Soccer coaches in New England behind only Jon Anderson of Babson.

Since 2019 the Wildcats own a GNAC regular season record of 40-3-6 and are an incredible 43-1-6 in their last 50 home matches at the SMAC. This past season, the Wildcats were 14-2-5, winning the GNAC championship for a record 10th time while being 4th in the country in GAA .471 and 5th in shutout % .619. This is the 4th time a Kulik-coached team has been in the top 10 in the country in GAA and third in the top 5. The team ended the season on a school-record 17-match undefeated streak before bowing out in the NCAA tournament on penalties.

Kulik came to Providence after spending 12 years as the head mens soccer coach at Clark (MA) in Worcester, Mass, the last six as an associate AD. He left the Cougars program as the all-time leader in wins (103). Before he arrived in Worcester, Kulik spent nearly a decade as an assistant coach at Yale University, Boston College, and Tufts University. A two-time New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Coach of the Year (2005, 2008), Kulik was a four-year member of the NCAA Division III National Soccer Committee (2008-11) and served as the national chair of the committee in 2010. He began a second four-year term as chairman for Region 1 in 2021.

A highly touted high school player, as a senior he was recognized as an Adidas and first-team NSCAA All-American. Kulik played in the first national high school All-America match at Army-West Point which was broadcast on ESPN. He went on to play at Yale University, where he became the first student-athlete in the history of the program to start every game of their four-year career. He earned All-Ivy League and All-New England accolades in each of his four years playing for the Bulldogs, serving as captain as a senior. As a junior, Kulik helped the Bulldogs to an Ivy League Championship in 1986 following a 30-year drought.

During his college career, he was the recipient of the Walter J. McNerney Award as the teams most valuable player and earned the Walter Leeman Senior Leadership Trophy as the player who upholds the ideals of Leeman through sportsmanship and team play. After Yale, he played professionally for the Boston Bolts and the Miami Freedom, competing in the American Soccer League championship in 1989 against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers. In his first professional season, Kulik was named the team's hardest-working player and was fifth on the team in scoring with four goals and an assist.

Also active in the club soccer community, Kulik led his squads to numerous league titles, state championships, and trips to regional, national, and international tournaments with FC Greater Boston Bolts and Bruno United. Outside of his college and club coaching experience, Kulik coached for one year at the St. Johns School in San Juan Puerto Rico, and for one year at Central High School in San Angelo, Texas, where he guided the team to a school-record 17-win season being named the district Coach of the Year.

Kulik holds the United States Soccer Federation A license and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Advanced National Diploma. A 1988 graduate of Yale University with a degree in sociology/economics, he obtained an advanced degree in psychology from Tufts University in 1992.

John Scott is just the seventh head coach in the exceptional 64-year history of the Hartwick men's soccer program. He enters his 14th season piloting the Hawks in 2023-24, which is the program's sixth season competing at the Division III level.

While coaching the Hawks at the Division I level, Scott led four players to Sun Belt All-Conference accolades, including Offensive Player of the Year and All-Region pick Jamie O'Grady, in the fall of 2017.

In 2016, Scott's Hawks finished the campaign 9-6-4 overall with an appearance in the Sun Belt Conference semifinals. Five Hartwick players earned Sun Belt All-Conference honors, including Co-Freshman of the Year, Hamish Ritchie.

In 2015, Scott led Hartwick to its twenty-fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history which is tied for 13th in Division I history. The Hawks repeated as both Sun Belt Regular Season and Sun Belt Tournament champions and completed another sweep of all three major team awards after earning the Sun Belt Men's Soccer Academic Award (team GPA of 3.57).

Hartwick would also sweep the Sun Belt individual awards with Scott leading the way with Coach of the Year honors. It marked the third straight season Scott has been named a conference Coach of the Year. Junior Jamie O'Grady was named Offensive Student Athlete of the Year, junior Kit Tregear secured Defensive Student Athlete of the Year, and goalkeeper Lenny Wilson was tabbed Sun Belt Freshman of the Year. Nine players would also earn All-Sun Belt honors.

The Hawks would go unbeaten and untied in the conference regular season to earn the top seed in the Sun Belt playoffs. 'Wick would blank host Appalachian State 1-0 in the semifinals and Georgia State 3-0 in the title game to claim the league trophy. Hartwick would post five clean sheets in seven games against Sun Belt opposition over the course of the season. The Hawks' campaign came to an end in heartbreaking fashion after dropping a 1-0 thriller in overtime to host Dartmouth in the NCAA First Round.

O'Grady and Tregear would earn NSCAA All-Region honors for their efforst in 2015. Senior Jack Miller was a CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American.

Scott piloted the Hawks to a conference championship and the NCAA Tournament for the first time in nine seasons in 2014. The Hawks, playing in their inaugural season in the Sun Belt Conference, captured all three major team honors.

After an inauspicious 0-6-4 start to the season, Scott guided the Hawks to a momentous turnaround, which included a 3-1-1 conference season to claim the Sun Belt regular season title and the tournament's top seed. The Hawks went on the road to shutout #4 Appalachian State (2-0) and then the tournament host and #2 seed Georgia Southern (1-0) on its home field to claim the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Hawks' season would end in the opening round of the national tournament after a solid effort in a 2-1 defeat at Penn State. The appearance would mark Hartwick's 24th all-time.

Scott would be crowned the Sun Belt Conference Men's Soccer Coach of the Year, becoming one of only a handful of coaches to earn the distinction two years in a row in two separate conferences. Senior Jhevaughan Beckford and junior Tom Buckner both would earn all-conference honors as well.

Scott's Hawks would also earn the Sun Belt Men's Soccer Academic Award after beating out all other conference teams with a 3.31 Team GPA to complete the conference treble.

In 2014, Scott led the Hawks to a record of 5-9-4 and a 3-2-1 mark in their final season in the Mid-American Conference. Wick had memorable wins over national powers Akron (2-0) and West Virginia (1-0) over the course of the season. The victory over then-No. 9 Akron on its home field snapped the Zips NCAA record 49-game (46-0-3) conference unbeaten streak.

Under Scotts guidance, the Hawks qualified for the MAC Tournament for the first time since 2009. For his efforts, he would be named the MACs Gary V. Palmisano Coach of the Year.

Nine players earned Mid-American All-Conference honors under Scott over four seasons. Steven Amaya (2010) and Greg Mathers (2011) were both First Team selections with Owen Botting (2010), Jherrett Maroney (2011), Simon Greatwich (2011), Cleyon Brown (2012), Matthew Robertson (2013), Russ MacKinnon (2013), and Chris Walter (2013) each earning Second Team honors.

In 2012, he guided 'Wick to a 5-10-2 mark with victories over Bowling Green, Florida Atlantic, Bucknell, St. Bonaventure, and NJIT. The Hawks were a very competitive side with seven of their losses coming by just one goal.

In 2011, Scott led the Hawks to a 5-6-5 overall record. The team finished 1-2-3 in the Mid-American Conference and fifth in the standings missing the playoffs by just a single game.

Scott, a native of Banff, Scotland, and former player at Hartwick, returned to Oyaron Hill after serving for nine seasons as the top assistant at Binghamton University. As the 7th head coach in the history of the men's soccer program, he joins a list that includes Hal Greig (1956-59), David Haase (1960-66), Al Miller (1967-72), Timo Liekoski (1973-75), Jim Lennox (1976-2002), and Ian McIntyre (2003-09).

At Binghamton, Scott assisted in the management and development of all phases of the Bearcats' program including recruiting, training, match preparation, team academics, and alumni and community relations. During his stay at BU, he has been a key factor in the team's Division I success. After their first two years competing at the Division I level in 2001 and 2002, the Bearcats went 69-37-29 in the past seven years with two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, two America East Conference titles, and six trips to the America East Tournament finals.

As a Hartwick player, Scott donned the blue and white in 1996 starting all 18 games. He finished the campaign ranked 2nd in assists and tied for 4th in scoring with a goal and five helpers. After his freshman season, Scott returned to his native Scotland to compete on the semi-professional level for Fraserburgh FC and Buckie Thistle FC from 1997-2000. He earned a bachelor's degree in 2000 from the University of Abertay in Dundee, Scotland, in the field of sports coaching.

Scott began his coaching career at Plattsburgh State in 2000, serving as the assistant women's coach before accepting the assistant position at Binghamton in the fall of 2001. He holds coaching certifications from the Scottish Football Association as well as National Soccer Coaches Association of America National, Advanced National, and Premier Diplomas. Scott also assists in the direction of B.C. United Fusion, a Premier Youth Soccer Club based in Endicott, NY.

Former Saint Patrick-Saint Vincent High School JV head coach, varsity assistant coach for the Bruins, and Cal Maritime women's soccer assistant coach Mike Carvalho became men's soccer's head coach in October, 2020.

The 2023-24 season is Carvalho's fourth leading Cal Maritime's men's soccer program.

Before he entered his first season as head coach, Carvalho noted the obstacles and challenges of developing a new program, which prepped him for this new role, and highlighted his experience working alongside Coach Scheese since the program's inaugural season in 2018.

"Emily has been a great mentor, she allowed me the opportunity to develop the women's program with her. From the beginning, she encouraged my participation in program planning and coaching; I still remember our first practice and how excited the players and coaches were to be part of the school's first women's soccer team.

Carvalho added, "My coaching philosophy includes a lot of knowledge, ideas and principles learned from Coach Scheese."

"I am excited to see Mike officially on staff as men's soccer's head coach," said Scheese. "He has already proven his dedication to the growth of our women's soccer program by his contributions of time, soccer knowledge, and I look forward to what the men's program will accomplish with a mentor that keeps each cadet at the forefront of why we coach here. I'm glad we will collaborate to see both teams improve and grow."

Carvalho has coached hundreds of players in youth and adult competitive soccer, working with over 30 club and high school teams while winning three state cups and several league championships. throughout his career.

"Players need to understand not only the roles and responsibilities of each position," explained Carvalho, "but how all the positions can work together to defend against opponent attacks and how to transition into an attack that creates scoring opportunities."

The Benecia resident added, "I want to develop a program where I can build on the talents and skills of our new and returning players by creating a structured soccer program. I hope to accomplish this by implementing a methodology of predictive play, constant player communication on and off the field, and using the best practices in technical, tactical, and systemic soccer training. I believe every player needs to be a student of the game.

"As head coach, I look forward to leading this fine group of cadets and teaching our players a game I truly love and appreciate."

Carvalho, a Western Governors University MBA / Southern Illinois University-Carbondale alum, obtained all three United Soccer Coach Credentials NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, and NSCAA Premier Diploma in addition to a Master Coach Diploma, the highest United Soccer Coaches certification. Licensed by the U.S. Soccer Federation as a referee since 2007.

Outside of his coaching duties and responsibilities, Carvalho manages the cloud technology infrastructure team at AC Transit in Oakland as the IT Manager of Cloud Infrastructure.

Warren Backman was named Dean College Men's Soccer Head Coach in July 2024.

Backman joined Dean College after spending 2022-23 as the head assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Suffolk University Mens Soccer team. Wearing multiple hats, Backman created and edited scouting reports and videos for coaching staff review, organized on-campus tours, and meticulously coordinated recruiting visits, handling all aspects from hotel accommodations to transportation. Additionally, Backman played a pivotal role in the organizational aspects of daily practices and games, developing and conducting individual and team training sessions, collaborating closely with head coach Bill Maddock daily.

In the 2023 campaign, Backman helped the Rams to be consistently regionally ranked throughout the season, climbing as high as No. 2 in the region and receiving votes in the NCAA DIII National Coaches Poll. The team had two All-Region Second Team honorees and a strong presence in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), boasting three players on the First Team, four on the Second Team and six on the Third Team. The team's exceptional performance extended to individual recognitions, including one Offensive Player of the Week, three Defensive Players of the Week, and two Rookie of the Week selections. Further highlighting the team's commitment to excellence, five players earned Academic All-District selections, showcasing a balance between athletic prowess and academic achievement.

Backman's first year with the Rams was one for the record books as the team played their way into the CCC Championship for the first time in program history after going 10-6-5 in the regular season and 4-2-3 in league play. Awards poured in for Suffolk student-athletes highlighted by Brady Sorensen's Second Team United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection. He was one of five players to earn All-CCC honors. The trio of Xander Balog, Jack Phelps and Tommy Handeslman secured spots on the All-CCC Second Team, while Sorensen and Carter Van Buskirk picked up Third Team nods.

Backman came to Boston after a one-year stint at Lynn University. He was an essential cog to all things Lynn soccer ranging from daily practices to games, scouting reports, recruiting, team activities and scheduling. On top of his soccer responsibilities, he coordinated and contributed to all the sports information tasks for home events including game recaps and broadcasting. During his time with the Fighting Knights, the mens soccer program was ranked as high as No. 1 in the region and No. 3 in the NCAA DII National Coaches Poll.

For his efforts at Lynn, Backman was the 2021-22 recipient of the 30 Under 30 award from the United Soccer Coaches, a nationwide governing body of soccer. Each year the organization conducts a yearly search to find the best 30 "up and coming" soccer coaches under 30 years old from across the country, regardless of experience or level of coaching.

Prior to his time at Lynn, Backman spent 2019-2021 at Regis as a Graduate Assistant coach and Game Operations Manager and served as the Interim Head Coach for the 2020-21 academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In that span, he was the sole recruiter for the program, which was recognized with back-to-back Top Recruiter awards from Regis. Backman accomplished these feats while working towards his Master of Arts in Strategic Communication.

Regis gave Backman his first collegiate coaching experience two years following his playing days at Emerson. Originally from Spring Hill, Florida, Backman appeared in 47 matches, started 34, over his playing career from 2014-17.

Taylor was named the eighth head coach in SNHU men's soccer program history on April 30, 2015.
"SNHU has been my home for the last seven years and I have always felt privileged to be involved with such a storied program. SNHU has always been a special place for me and I am excited to take the next step as head coach," said Taylor upon his promotion.
Taylor's first season at the helm of the program saw a seamless transition as the Penmen captured an unprecedented fourth straight Northeast-10 Championship and earned their eighth straight (21st overall) NCAA Tournament berth, en route to finishing the season 19-1-1 with a national ranking as high as No. 2. The team advanced to the third round of NCAAs, where it fell on penalty kicks, and ended its season having not allowed a goal over a span of 624:52.
Under Taylor's tutelage, a league-best 11 Penmen earned Northeast-10 All-Conference honors, while Sofiane Tergou, Dominic Samuel and Nick Zucco captured Northeast-10 Player, Defender and Goalkeeper of the Year honors, respectively. Those three, along with Sebastian Stezewski, were also chosen as All-Americans.
Taylor joined the men's soccer program as an assistant coach before the 2008 season and was elevated to the top assistant spot prior to the 2012 season. During that time, the Penmen compiled a 117-20-16 (.817) record while making seven straight NCAA appearances, including four trips to the national quarterfinals in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2013, the Penmen captured the ultimate prize, winning the second NCAA Division II national championship in program history with a 22-1-1 record. SNHU won four Northeast-10 Conference tournament titles (2008, 2012, 2013, 2014) and four regular season titles (2008, 2009, 2013, 2014) over that span.

Taylor was four-year member for the Pilgrims men's soccer team being named to The Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Conference 3rd Team in 2007 and team captain in 2008. The Pilgrims also were ECAC Tournament finalists in 2007 and achieved 40 wins, most in school history, during a four-year span.
Taylor is also is the Associate Director for Soccer Sphere in which he works extensively with the youth programs in Hooksett, Amherst, Bow, Milford and Candia. He is also responsible for the logistical aspects for their summer, winter and school-break camps. Taylor holds a NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advance Youth Diploma, and a USSF D License.
Taylor completed a masters degree in Sport Management and a certificate in International Sport Management from SNHU in 2010. During his masters program he completed his internship with the New England Revolution in their Soccer Operations department. Taylor completed a second certificate in finance in 2016 and is currently pursuing his second masters degree in Data Analytics from SNHU.
Taylor resides with his wife, Erin, in Salem, N.H., with their daughter, Lulu, and two bulldogs, Paddy and Journey.

Diego Thielen begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Franklin Pierce University men's soccer program in 2023.

Thielen joins Franklin Pierce following two seasons as a volunteer assistant at Lenoir-Rhyne University, where he helped coach the Bears to back-to-back National Tournament appearances (2021,22), as well as a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Championship in 2022. In addition to his assistant duties at Lenoir-Rhyne, Thielen also spent the spring and summer of 2022 as an assistant coach for the USL-Two's Otters FC, gaining experience at the highest level of semi-professional soccer in the United States.

Prior to LRU, Diego Thielen served as a graduate assistant at Ohio Valley University, where he helped guide the Fighting Scots to an 18th overall ranking in the country, as well as Division II's "Sweet Sixteen" in the NCAA National Tournament. In the spring of 2021, the program claimed both regular season and conference tournament championships, achieving the school's highest national ranking in program history (3rd), eventually claiming Midwest Region Staff of the Year by United Soccer Coaches.

Thielen spent four seasons as a player with the Ohio Valley men's soccer program, graduating in 2019 with a Bachelors Degree in Sport Management and Business Administration. During his time on the field, Thielen was named to both the GMAC All-Freshman team and All-ECAC Second Team. Thielen saw great success as a member of the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship team, and the 2018 Midwest Region Championship team for the Fighting Scots.

Thielen is a native from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, and has also graduated from Colegio Andres Eloy Blanco and spent five seasons playing for Club Deportivo Lara.

I went to the first ID Camp in Philly. We were so encouraged that we attended this one in DC. I have always dreamed about 1) going to college and 2) playing soccer in college. I got to meet a lot of great coaches and athletes. I learned something new at each camp. I wish there were more camps close to me so we could attend more. I am a senior and need all the help I can get in hopes to find the right college. I loved how the coaches were there to help us and give us directions on the spot. My mentor Coach was Mike Eckberg. The best part about the Exact ID camp was the ability to have one-on-one conversation with 30+ college soccer coaches from all over the United States. These coaches were not only from different part of the country, but also coaches at different levels. Frequently Asked Questions

Are all college coaches listed on the confirmed staff actually going to be there?

Yes - EXACT Sports hires all coaches to be on the field instructing and evaluating athletes throughout camp. All coaches listed on the coaching staff are confirmed to participate, instruct, evaluate and get to personally know the players.

Will players have an opportunity to get feedback from the coaching staff at camp?

Yes, players get direct feedback from NCAA & NAIA college coaches throughout camp as well as through an online digital assessment that is viewable by the athlete and their family members as well.

How will I access game footage after camp?

EXACT will provide you with a digital link within twenty one days after camp. The digital link will give you free unlimited access to all raw (unedited) video captured at camp. You can (and should!) use this footage in your recruiting efforts. At this time, this unlimited access is included as part of camp (no extra cost).

Digital footage will also be distributed to NCAA coaches in EXACT's College Network. This is another way EXACT helps you get on the college radar. We will share tips with registered athletes to follow up with these coaches.

How can I sign up for the Field Player video package?

In addition to the free unlimited access to all raw digital video footage (downloadable) you get as part of camp, EXACT is offering an upgrade option for athletes as follows.

Professional Highlight Video

EXACT can have a professional highlight video made based on your video clips from camp. This video will include your information and will feature professional editing to make it clear who you are. Your highlight video will be shared on a personalized highlight video webpage, making it super easy to share with college coaches.

Registered athletes will receive instructions (via email) for adding these upgraded video options.

Is there any training for Goalkeepers?

Is there a trainer on-site at camp?

Yes! – there is an Athletic Trainer on-site during all gameplay & training. Your well-being is a priority!

What do players need to bring to camp?

Soccer equipment to bring includes soccer clothes, cleats, shin guards, ball, water bottle, socks, goalkeeper gloves*, and GYM SHOES/FLATS.

Can parents watch?

Yes! Parents are welcome to attend and observe all portions of EXACT’s camps, both on the field and in workshops. You are welcome to observe, but it is not required. Parents are also welcome to drop off athletes and pick up after camp (whatever your preference!). The only rule at camp is we ask parents to stay off the sidelines with athletes and coaches, as we want coaches to simulate a true college atmosphere during training and gameplay.

What is EXACT's Cancellation Policy?

Because our camps have a limited capacity, we cannot offer refunds to campers who cancel for any reason. However, during registration you may purchase "No Questions Asked" (NQA) cancellation insurance that will allow you to receive a refund in the event that you are unable to attend the camp.

For those that do not purchase NQA cancellation insurance, we are only able to offer you a transfer of your registration fee less a credit transfer fee to cover EXACT's incurred event costs. Transfer fee is 20% (when notified 14+ days out) or 35% (when notified 1-14 days out from camp). The credit will be stored on your email address and can be applied to any open EXACT camp within 12 months. There is no credit provided to no-shows at the camp, so please notify us early!

NCAA Compliance

Yes! EXACT takes great care in ensuring compliance with NCAA rules, as college coaches are interacting and training with players on the field. In accordance with NCAA rules, EXACT camps are open to any and all that would like to attend, but may limit attendance based on several factors, such as age, number and grade level. however, camp attendance at EXACT is never restricted by a camper's skill level or competitive experience.
