Joey Blasetti

Assistant Coach

Columbia (NY)

Division 1

Joey Blasetti is in his first year as an assistant coach on the Columbia men's soccer staff. Blasetti was hired in August of 2022 after serving as the assistant and goalkeeper coach at the College of Mount Saint Vincent since January of 2021.

Blasetti helped coach Mount Saint Vincent to the 2021 Skyline Conference Championship. On the way to the title, the Dolphins posted a record of 14-2-2, 9-1-1 Skyline, winning the schools first conference title in mens soccer. The Mount defeated No. 1 seed Manhattanville, 2-0, in the championship game, rolling into the NCAA Tournament with nine consecutive wins.

Blasetti brings coaching experience from multiple NCAA levels, the semi-pro ranks, club and high school. He has served as the assistant for the Westchester Flames in USL 2, Iona College, NY Cosmos Academy and Rye Country Day School. At all of those stops, Blasetti specialized with goalkeepers, overseeing tactical and technical development, conducting daily training sessions, breaking down film and teaching the physical and mental skills to succeed.

On the playing circuit, Blasetti was a collegiate goalkeeper for Adelphi University in 2016. He went on to play semi-professionally for FC Bruchsal in Germany. Those experiences took him on to Westchester United in the UPSL and the aforementioned Westchester Flames.

Blasetti holds a Bachelor of Science in recreation education from Lehman College. He currently resides in Yonkers.

Brian Bouhl

Division 1

Brian Bouhl joined the Hoyas in 2018 as the volunteer assistant coach.  He comes to the Hilltop from Coastal Carolina University. Bouhl assists in all aspects of the program, with primary responsibility on coaching the Hoya goalkeepers and managing the sport science program.




 


Bouhl spent the past three seasons at the University of Kentucky where he was the director of operations for mens soccer.  There he worked with all aspects of the program focusing on team operations including training, sport science, travel and camps. During that time, the Wildcats made NCAA tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016, including a program-first No. 16 seed in 2016.




 


While in Lexington, Bouhl was a staff coach with Lexington FC for five years, coaching the 1999 and 2001 boys age groups, as well as coaching goalkeepers for the club.




 


He began his coaching career at Centre College in 2014 as an assistant coach.  At Centre, Bouhl coached the goalkeepers while also managing the squads daily schedule from training to equipment and social media.




 


Bouhl also spent time coaching in the PDL with Myrtle Beach Mutiny and Derby City Rovers.




 


A native of Louisville, Kentucky, he earned a bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky. He holds his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) E License as well as the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Diploma 1.




 


Bouhl resides in the Glover Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

John Shimer

John Shimer joined the Boston College Eagles after a successful 6-year stint just down the road at Pine Manor College where he founded the Division III men's program in 2014 and led the Gators to two ACAA conference championships, an overall 56-33-9 record, and over 30 All-Conference selections.




Previously Shimer worked at both Endicott College where he brought in a class that featured two CCC Defensive Players of the Year and one All-American. That class would help lead Endicott to 4 straight regular season conference championships. Prior to Endicott, Shimer worked at his alma mater Ohio Wesleyan for a season where the Battling  Bishops won the regular season NCAC conference championship and ultimately advanced to the first round of the NCAA tournament. 

Robert Thompson

Director of Operations

Division 1

Rob Thompson joined the Clemson mens soccer program prior to the 2017 season. Prior to coming to Clemson, Thompson was heavily involved in coaching both youth and college soccer in New Hampshire since 1993.

Thompson spent 24 years coaching at Seacoast United Soccer Club (SUSC), New Hampshires premier youth sports club. He most recently served as the College Recruiting Coordinator and Director of premier HS age teams in the club. This past year, he coached two Seacoast teams to state titles. Both the 2000 girls NPL team and the 2004 boys NPL team won the US Club NH State Championship. His 2004 boys NPL team advanced to the US Club national championship tournament.

Thompson spent 20 years as the head coach of mens soccer at University of New Hampshire. Thompson is currently UNHs all-time wins leader, and he was honored as America East Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2009. His Wildcats won an America East regular season title in 2009, and their undefeated conference regular season record of 6-0-1 in that same year was the first by any America East team since 1997. He led UNH to conference semi-finals six times (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013) and advanced to America East conference title games in 2010 and 2012, dropping both in penalty kick shootouts after drawing 0-0 both times. UNH squads were nationally ranked in 1993, 1994, 1997 and 2005. His teams led the America East conference in best discipline record 14 out of 15 years, and they finished in the top three in national Division I NSCAA fair play rankings three times (2009, 2012, 2013). His program had a record eight straight NSCAA team academic awards from 2007-2014.

Thompson was named US Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) Regional Coach of the Year in 2008. He led the Seacoast United U18 Academy Team to its only USSDA playoff berth in club history in 2011. He coached the Seacoast United U17 boys team to the USL Super Y League championship match in 2007, and that same team went to the USYSA Region 1 final in 2007, finishing with a No. 8 national ranking. From 1998 to 2006, he led Seacoast United youth teams to eight New Hampshire state USYSA titles. He was also a member of the USYSA Region 1 Olympic Development Staff from 1994 to 2007.

By coming to Clemson, Thompson is reuniting with head coach Mike Noonan, as the two coached together at UNH in 1993 and 1994. During that two-year span, the Wildcats were nationally ranked and had the best two-year win percentage in UNH history. The duo also coached UNH to its only NCAA tournament appearance in program history.  While Thompson's been at Clemson, the Tigers have achieved national rankings each season while winning an ACC regular season division title in 2019 , 2020, and 2021 and the ACC tournament championship in 2020, finishing the fall as the #1 ranked team in the nation.  2021 culminated in Clemson winning their third National Championship.  This past season, Clemson won both the 2023 ACC title, and won their 4th National Championship.  Since Thompson has been at Clemson, the Tigers have won three regular season ACC division titles, two ACC championships, two National Championships, had two #1 MLS draft picks, and had two Hermann Trophy Honorees.

Ryan Sandell

Division 1

Ryan Sandell is in his first year on the men's soccer staff at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Penn, Ryan was the first assistant at Muhlenberg College in 2020, and was the goalkeeper coach at Drexel University in 2018. In 2019, Ryan played overseas in Sweden, and Northern Ireland. As a college player at Elizabethtown College, Ryan was a First Team All-Conference Selection, and NSCAA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team selection, as well as helping Etown to a third conference final in four years,  and an NCAA tournament appearance and first round win.

Chris Gores

Washington (WA)

Chris Gores is in his fifth year as an assistant at Washington on the staff of his former college teammate, Jamie Clark.

During the 2017 season, Gores helped the Huskies again reach the NCAA tournament as UW posted a 12-7-1 overall record. In addition to four victories over NCAA Top 25 teams, Gores helped coach yet another Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in Blake Bodily, who tallied three goals and eight assists. He joined Handwalla Bwana in receiving first-team All-Pac-12 honors with Kyle Coffee, Garrett Jackson, Quentin Pearson and Saif Kerawala earning second-team honors. In addition, Justin Fiddes was selected in the first round of the MLS Superdraft by the Vancouver Whitecaps while Handwalla Bwana signed as a Homegrown Selection with Sounders FC.

2016 saw Gores and the Huskies make it to the third round of the NCAA tournament for the third time in four years.  The Huskies went 14-7-0 that year, outscoring the opposition by 15 goals over the 21-game season.  Gores helped coach Handwalla Bwana to Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors, as well as All-Pac-12 honors for Auden Schilder, Henry Wingo, and Justin Schmidt.

In 2015, Gores helped the Huskies to an 8-5-6 record.  The team allowed just 13 goals in 19 games.  Ryan Herman was named an All-American and First Team All-Pac-12 that year, while Gores helped five other Huskies make it to the All-Pac-12 team.

Gores helped the Huskies to another tremendous season in his first year at UW, finishing with a record of 12-5-3 and a trip to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 2014. The Dawgs started the year 9-1-0 and earned their first No. 1 national ranking since 1997, before eventually being named the No. 14 seed in the NSCAA Tournament. Gores coached several players who earned honors in 2014, including Cristian Roldan and Andy Thoma who were named Third Team All-American by the NSCAA. Roldan and Darwin Jones were also each named to the First Team All-Pac-12 Team.

Gores comes to Washington from Florida Gulf Coast where he spent one season. For the Eagles, Gores helped FGCU become the first program in Atlantic Sun Conference history to win four straight regular-season championships courtesy of a 6-1-1 league record. After starting the season 0-5-1, including a loss to Washington, Eagles went 8-1-1 over their final 10 regular-season games. During that span FGCU out-scored its opponents 14-6, including 12-4 in A-Sun action.

Before joining the Eagles, Gores spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the Harvard mens soccer team, where he focused heavily on recruiting, and helped coach the team to numerous upsets against nationally ranked opponents.

Prior to beginning his coaching career, Gores spent eight years playing professionally for five different teams in the United Soccer League. Additionally, Gores served as captain of the Puerto Rico Mens National Team, competing in both the 2010 World Cup qualifiers and the 2005 Digicel Cup.

Gores played collegiately at Stanford alongside Clark, where they led the nation in scoring defense and helped the Cardinal finish second in the NCAA Tournament during the 1998 season. He graduated in 2000 with a degree in international relations.

In 2011 Gores received the FIFA recognized United States Soccer Federation National A License.

Rob Esposito

Rob Esposito currently assists Matt Viggiano in coaching the Marist Red Foxes. As a student-athlete, Esposito played at Herkimer Community College from 2004-2006, where the team finished as national runners-up in 2004 and won a National Championship in 2005. Following his time at Herkimer, Esposito enrolled at SUNY Fredonia, playing from 2006-2008, when the team finished as SUNYAC runners-up in 2006 and conference champions in 2007. During his time at Fredonia, Esposito was named NSCAA All-Region twice and after graduation, played for the Westchester Flames of the PDL.

Esposito began coaching in 2011 at Dutchess Community College, before he was hired as an assistant at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh from 2012-17, winning a conference championship during the 2013 season. Esposito holds a FAW C License.

Taylor Thames

Taylor Thames enters his third season as the Explorers head coach after being hired to the post on August 9, 2021.
 
Thames finished his first season with a 6-10 record overall, and a 2-6 conference play record. Down the stretch of the season Thames coached the Blue & Gold to big back-to-back wins, scoring four goals in each of those games. Nigel Buckley, a senior forward, and a member of Coach Thames 2021 roster, was named to the Philadelphia Soccer 6 All-Star Team.
 
Thames joined the La Salle staff with over a decade of Division I coaching experience, most recently at Army West Point.

During his two seasons with the Cadets, Thames was heavily involved in the program's recruiting efforts and was key in helping bring in a stellar 2020 class that was ranked 18th in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer, and the 2021 class that was ranked 19th in the country.

With Thames on the staff, two Cadets garnered Second Team All-Patriot League accolades in Zac McGraw and Keenan O'Shea. McGraw additionally was the first Cadet in program history to be selected in the MLS Superdraft after he was picked by the Portland Timbers in the third round.

During his time on the banks of the Hudson, Thames also played a pivotal role of the emergence and development of Jacob Suppiah. After missing nearly his entire rookie season due to injury, Suppiah returned as a sophomore and posted a pair of shutouts. He finished his season with a 0.88 goals-against average in seven matches played and was key in the draw against No. 19 Navy on Oct. 11 in the annual Army-Navy Cup at Talen Energy Stadium.

Thames arrived at West Point with over nine years of coaching and playing experience after a four-year stint as an assistant coach at Cincinnati. 

With the Bearcats, he coached a defense that posted 16 clean sheets and compiled 27 wins. During his second year on the staff, Cincinnati ranked inside the top five in the American Athletic Conference in goals against average, goals allowed, saves and shutouts. He also coached one First Team All-AAC player, five second team standouts and four all-rookie team selections while with the program.

Prior to his time in Cincinnati, he spent two years on the coaching staff at Stony Brook as an assistant. Thames assisted in recruiting, while overseeing equipment, travel, the program's budget and NCAA compliance records. He also prepared and executed the conditioning and recovery programs on top of team training with a specific emphasis on the goalkeepers.

Before heading out to Long Island, Thames served in a similar capacity at Mount St. Mary's in Maryland. In three seasons there, he oversaw recruiting, as well as the design and implementation of training with oversight of the keepers. In addition, Thames was responsible for community and alumni outreach and he worked with student-athletes to oversee their class schedules and provide academic support.

He also has extensive youth coaching experience and is currently the Director of Coaching at Cornwall United, a role he took on July 1, 2019. Thames previously spent time as the Director of Goalkeeping and was the head coach for Cincinnati Elite FC. He additionally was the at the helm of the senior age group Ohio Elite SA from 2015-18.

Before trekking west, Thames held the role of head coach for the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association's (MSYSA) U-17 team and for the F.C. Frederick's U-15 squad. He was instrumental in coaching the keepers with both groups, serving as the assistant director of goalkeeping for MSYSA and the director of goalkeeping at F.C. Frederick. While with F.C. Frederick, he also worked in the Olympic Development Program as the U-18 head coach for Maryland. Under his guidance, the team finished as a finalist in the regional tournament in 2013.

He has a Senior-A level coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation and a goalkeeping diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

A native of the Washington, D.C., area, Thames played in the Washington Premier League (WPL), a semi-professional league, for Washington Elite F.C. from 2010-13.

Before embarking on his semi-pro career, he was a four-year standout at Delaware. With the Blue Hens, he finished his career ranked sixth in career shutouts, ninth in saves, fifth in goals against average and seventh in minutes played. Twice a Dean's List honoree, he graduated from Delaware in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science. 

Thames resides in the Philadelphia area with his wife Christine, and their three kids: Chase (6), Crew (3), and Cora (1).

Flo Liu

Division 1

Flo Liu begins his fourth season as assistant on Coach Dave Castellanos' staff in 2024. Liu comes to the program after a stint as the assistant men's soccer coach at St. John's.

Liu helped guide the Red Storm to a 14-5-1 record and a trip to the NCAA Sweet Sixteens in 2019 with St.Johns. The Red Storm was as high as no.1 in RPI during the season. After receiving a first-round bye, the team won in the second round against Syracuse but lost in the third round to No. 1 Virginia.

Before his time with St. John's, Liu worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. from 2016 to 2018. During Liu's time with the Blue Hose, he helped turn a last-placed RPI team into conference champions in 2017, defeating top-seeded High Point on penalty kicks to clinch the first NCAA bid in program history.
 
A native of Richmond, British Columbia, Liu played at University of Connecticut where he helped UConn to two NCAA quarterfinal appearances in 2011 and 2012, he was part of a defense that set a school record with 16 shutouts in 2011.
  
In 2013, Liu had a brief playing spell in Germany, including training with Eintracht Frankfurt of German Bundesliga. 
 
Liu holds a USSF B License and assists with all aspects of the program.

Zachary Weidman

Coach Weidman joins American after previously spending two seasons as an assistant at the University of the Cumberlands. During the spring 2021 season, Weidman led the Patriots to their first Mid-South Conference title and an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament Quarterfinals. UC finished the spring with a No. 6 ranking in the final national poll, the highest ranking in program history.

Primarily responsible for the goalkeepers, he directed the unit to one of their most successful seasons between the posts. In the spring 2021 campaign, the keepers recorded nine shutouts (seventh-most in NAIA) and 14 wins, which was the most since 2010 for the program. He also coached an NAIA All-American.

A native of Concord, Mich., Weidman played at Spring Arbor University. He played four seasons with the Cougars and boasted an .833 record as a goalkeeper.

Scott Heinen

I played and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2021 and rejoined the program in 2023 as the assistant soccer coach. In between that time I spent a year and a half playing professionally in Germany. My experience at Gustavus was amazing as a student athlete and the opportunity to coach my alma mater and positively shape the experiences of current student athletes is why I returned and why I continue to coach.

Brian Jaworski

Coach Jaworski  has served as coach of the Pioneer men's soccer team since 2004. The 2009 Pioneer squad won the Midwest Conference Tournament title and earned the schools first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance as Jaworski was voted MWC Coach of the Year. Jaworski has helped build the Pioneer program into a consistent winner. After his first two teams went 10-19-2 overall and 5-13 in Midwest Conference play, Grinnell has posted a combined overall mark of 67-61-12 and league record of 45-22-7 in the past eight seasons. The Pioneers have posted winning records six of the last eight years and qualified for the MWC Tournament six times in that span. Under his guidance, Grinnell also boasted its first-ever MWC Player of the Year in 2010, Mark Rosenberg. Overall, Jaworski has developed six All-Region selections while at Grinnell and 10 Academic All-Region selections. Jaworskis 2014 team was one for the history books. Grinnell emerged as the NCAA Division III national leader in three categories. Isaiah Tyree led the nation in goals against average at 0.218 and save percentage at .959, while the Pioneers were also tops in team save percentage with a mark of .916.   Grinnell also tied or set five MWC records in 2014, including Tyree in goals against average and save percentage. The Pioneers established new league marks in goals allowed with eight and team goals against average at 0.44, with the latter mark ranking fourth nationally. Grinnell tied the MWC record for shutouts in a season with 11. Jaworski arrived at Grinnell in August of 2004, following a long and successful career as an assistant coach at DePauw University that spanned from 1991-2003. During his tenure as an assistant coach, the Tigers went 167-58-12 (.704) and made four NCAA Tournament appearances. In May 2003, Jaworski was named Aflac National Assistant Coach of the Year in recognition of his hard-work and dedication to the DePauw University men's soccer program. The award is based on a coach's longevity and expertise, as well as contributions to the school and community, and special achievements throughout their careers. In addition to his work with the men's soccer program at DePauw, he also was an assistant coach for the DePauw women's soccer team that advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 2003. Jaworski was a standout soccer player for the DePauw men's team from 1984-1988, and he became the first player in the school's history to earn all-America honors in men's soccer, earning the distinction in 1988. He currently ranks seventh all-time in career goals scored with 31, and is eighth all-time in career points with 75. Jaworski, a 1989 graduate of DePauw, was inducted into the DePauw Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. As a head coach, Jaworski has coached two separate club teams to Indiana state championships. In 2002, his under-17 Dynamo FC Indianapolis club team claimed the state championship, and in 2000 his under-18 Dynamo FC Indianapolis squad won the team title. In 2004, Jaworski guided his Carmel United under-18 club to the final four of the Indiana state championship, where his team lost to the eventual state champion. He and his wife Leslie (a staff member of the Colleges psychology department), with the assistance of College coaches Tim Hollibaugh and Andy Hamilton, began the Grinnell Sports Camp in 2005. The camp allows participants to learn fundamentals and participate in drills in a variety of sports while also learning the values of sportsmanship and enjoyment of several activities. Jaworski resides in Grinnell with his wife and they have three children: Ann Marie (25) is a former three-year captain of the Boston University Women's Soccer Team, a former member of the U-19 US Women's National team, and now Head Soccer Coach at Simmons University in downtown Boston.  John (23) attends Sacred Heart University and play Division I hockey.  Calvin (19) is a second-year football player (free safety) at the University of Northern Iowa.

Xavier Tomlin

Xavier Tomlin has been on the staff at Centre College since the fall of 2019 where he spent the first two seasons as a Volunteer Assistant. He stepped into the full time Assistant role in 2021, helping lead the Colonels to their fourth conference championship in 6 years.

Ross MacKlin

Former Division III All-Region selection and international player, Ross Macklin, began his tenure as the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer assistant coach in the fall of 2022. Macklin joined head coach Brandon Bowmans staff to continue an 11-year coaching career that spans work at the club, Division III, and international levels.

Macklin's first season with the Tartans witnessed the program's return to the NCAA Tournament and a double-digit win season. 

Macklin previously worked as the director of recruiting and operations, head coach, and camp director for Tiro Sports Pte Ltd in Singapore for three years where he was the lead recruiter for new players from around the world for Tiro Sports United States College recruiting program. While with Tiro, Macklin often served as the head coach for select teams made up of international players that participated in college showcase tournaments in the U.S. 

Concurrently, Macklin was a volunteer assistant coach at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, for a year where he helped guide the Scots to a top-half finish in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and a postseason berth. Macklin was responsible for on-field coaching, helping to create the teams tactical approach to games, and scouting opponents.

Macklins first coaching role came in 2011 while he was a senior at Division III Vassar College. As Macklin was earning all-region honors for his play on the field helping the Brewers win their first-ever Liberty League Championship, he was serving as an assistant coach with the boys under 17 team at Middlepath FC from August through December of the following year. This experience, combined with a year as a student assistant for the Brewers in 2012 led to a full-time role with Vassar from August 2014 through January 2019. During that time, the Brewers earned two bids to the NCAA Division III Championship and won its second Liberty League title. 

Macklin earned all-region player distinction for leading the team with nine assists and 23 points while scoring seven goals. He was also named to the All-Liberty League Team as a junior and senior.

Additional coaching roles for Macklin include three years in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP). He also played with Kingston Stockade FC, a semi-professional club based in Kingston, New York, that participates in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). In 2017, Macklin helped the team to its first-ever North Atlantic Division championship and qualification for the U.S. Open Cup. While with Stockade, Macklin was selected to the NPSL National Team of the Week the week they won their championship.

Macklins connection to Singapore started in 2019 when he was a player for Singapore Football Club, the top amateur club in Singapore, that compete in the prestigious Cosmopolitan League. He was also the head coach for the teams campaign in the ESPZEN League and Tournament. In one season, Macklin led the team to the championship of the ESPZEN Tournament and a runner-up finish in the ESPZEN League.

Miguel Mendoza

Miguel Mendoza is in his second season as a assistant coach with the Concordia University Irvine mens soccer team.
 
Mendoza played for the Eagles from 2014-2017 and earned his bachelors degree in exercise sports science (ESS). As a player, he was named 2016 PacWest Newcomer of the Year and was voted Second Team All-PacWest that same season.
 
As a Graduate assistant Mendoza has just finished his Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration (MCAA). Mendoza serves as the Technical coach for both the Mens and Womens Soccer Teams at CUI.

Saint Leo University Vice President and Director of Athletics, [Francis X. Reidy](https://saintleolions.com/staff.aspxstaff=9) announced on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, the hiring of Brett Parker as the ninth head coach in the men's soccer program's 51-year history. Parker joins the Lions after a run to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer National Semifinals with Fort Hays State.

"We are excited to welcome Brett Parker as our next men's soccer coach. He has a proven ability to build programs into winners," University Vice President and Director of Athletics [Francis X. "This was a very difficult selection process but Brett's competitive nature, fit with our staff and his vision for the program were a clear match from the start."

"I'd like to thank Mr. Reidy and the search committee for believing and trusting in me for taking over a program with proud tradition and see my vision for the future of the program," Brett Parker mentioned. "I am excited for the opportunity to coach at Saint Leo and in the Sunshine State Conference, which most regard as the toughest conference in Division II."

The 11-year coaching veteran was the first head coach at Fort Hays State and reached the NCAA tournament in seven consecutive seasons while putting together a [100-40-18](tel:100-40-18)record at the helm of the Tigers over eight years.

Reidy continued, "Brett's seven consecutive NCAA appearances highlighted with a Final Four this past season are truly impressive. I believe we have recruited one of the best head coaches in all of Division II to lead our program."

At the helm, Parker has guided his programs to 10 or more wins in 10-straight seasons on his way to putting together a [126-61-21](tel:126-61-21)overall record, a .606-winning percentage. Parker has led his teams to seven NCAA regional tournaments, three quarterfinals appearances and one national semifinals appearance, which came this past season as the Tigers tied the eventual-National Champion Barry University, 0-0, before falling in penalty-kicks.

Parker added, "I look forward to hitting the ground running and looking to get the program back to where it was just a few short years ago."

This past season at Fort Hays State Parker, who was a two-time Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Coach of the Year (2017 and 2018), and his staff were named the Central Region coaching staff of the year by the United Soccer Coaches. He has coached six Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Americans, two United Soccer Coaches All-Americans, 39 D2CCA All-Central Region selections, four conference players of the year, three regional players of the year and one D2CCA national player of the year in Santiago Agudelo.

A Bozeman, Mont. native, Parker is a 2006 graduate of Ottawa (Kan.) University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology before going on to complete his Master of Science in Health and Human Performance at Fort Hays State in 2017. Parker played two years at Ottawa University where he was the 2006 First Team All-KCAC and Defensive Player of the Year while being selected as a NAIA All-Region IV player before going on to being named a NAIA Honorable Mention All-America.

Cameron Bushéy became the men's soccer assistant coach at California State University, Stanislaus in 2020. Bushéy was previously the assistant mens soccer coach at Gonzaga University from 2018-2020. Prior to that, he was the head coach of the mens first team and a Director of Coaching from 2015-2018 at the Spokane Shadow Soccer Club as well as the assistant mens soccer coach at Spokane Falls Community College where he was able to give back to the soccer community that he grew up in.

Ben Taylor will enter his third year as head coach of the Drury men's soccer program in 2020

Taylor's overall coaching record is 87-55-13.

Taylor came back to Drury after spending six seasons as the head coach at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa. His teams went 76-36-8 during his tenure and were ranked in the NJCAA top 20 in four of his six seasons with one of his teams ranked as high as second nationally. He also coached three NJCAA All-Americans during his time at ICCC. In addition, Taylor served as an assistant coach for the Des Moines Menace in the Premier Developmental League and helped the franchise to a 12-1-1 record in 2014.
 
As a player for Drury from 2007-10, Taylor was Second Team All-American selection, was a two-time First Team All-GLVC pick and was named to the All-Region first team three times. He finished his playing career ranked second all-time in assists at Drury with 23. Taylor helped the Panthers to the GLVC title in his junior year in 2009 with a team that went 21-2 and advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA-II national tournament. He was a four-year starter, a team captain for three seasons and also a member of the GLVC All-Academic Team. 
 
Taylor graduated from Drury in 2011 with a degree in Speech Communication. He also holds a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma and a UEFA B

Brooks is entering his fifth year as an assistant coach and eighth year overall with the program having served as a graduate assistant for three seasons.

Over his seven seasons, Carey has reached four National tournaments, reaching the final four in 2018. Carey won the Southern States Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship in 2016, 2017 & 2018 and won the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament Championship in 2016, 2018, 2019 & 2021.

Brooks primary role is working with the goalkeepers which has produced excellent results, which includes ranking number 1 in NAIA in goals against per game (0.41) and shutouts per game (0.62) (2019  Jose Domingo) the SSAC record number of shutouts (2019), Three SSAC golden gloves award (2016  Grant Adam,2018  Josh Carpenter,2019  Jose Domingo), Six 1st team all-conference goalkeepers (2016,2017  Grant Adam,2018  Josh Carpenter,2019  Jose Domingo,2020,2021  Buenyamin Yusufoglu), Three all-American goalkeepers (2016 Honorable mention, Grant Adam, 2018 third team, Josh Carpenter, 2019 Honorable mention, Jose Domingo)

Prior to William Carey, Brooks coached in Boston, Massachusetts where he coached a U18 club team at Global Premier Soccer as well as working as a Goalkeeping coach.

Before coming to the United States, Brooks played for youth academy club teams such as Plymouth Argyle, Bristol Rovers & Cambridge United. Brooks also represented Hampshire at senior level.

Brooks is originally from Cornwall, England. He holds a bachelors degree in Sport Science and Coaching from Southampton Solent University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from William Carey University. He currently holds a NSCAA Premier Coaching License.

Dru Sin

Dru Sin is in his second season with the Tigers coaching staff. His first as the assistant. Sin returned to Campbellsville University in the fall of 2019 as a graduate assistant for the program.

In 2019, Sin helped lead the Tigers to a 14-7-1 overall record going 5-3 inside MSC play. He also helped lead the Tigers to their First NAIA Appearance since 2016. Sin was able to assist in six NCCAA All-Americans in Maximilian Kohlfuerst (First Team), Marc Lawerence (First Team), Owen Stott (Second Team), Connor Grant (Second Team), Tom Edge (Second Team), and Gustav Oskarsson (Third Team).

A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Sin was a four-year starter for the Tigers and served his final two seasons as one of the team captains. Sin was also a three-time recipient of the Campbellsville University Champion of Character Award, presented to one player from each CU sports program annually.

In his four years as a defender on the CU men's soccer team, he played in a University record 83 games while starting 67 contests on the Tigers' back line. Over that time, he recorded two goals and five assists with his season-high in points coming in his senior season of 2013 when he finished with a goal and two assists.

Here we were asked to train two times a day and travel for games once a week. I was a part of the team that played in the MASL semifinals with oxford city of texas.

Colwell just completed his twelfth season with the Illinois Tech soccer program and also serves as the department's Senior Associate Director of Athletics. Colwell begins his ninth season as head coach of the men's soccer team.  
Colwell, a native of South Bend, Indiana, was assistant women's coach for Saint Mary's College in 2009 and assistant men's soccer and goalkeeper coach Bethel College in 2008. The Pilots advanced to the NAIA National Tournament that season. He was also the Assistant Director of Coaching for the Junior Irish Soccer Club for three seasons.
Prior to that, Colwell was head coach for both the men's and women's teams at NCAA DIII Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, for five seasons. At Lakeland, Colwell guided the women's team to two NCAA Tournament appearances, three conference tournament championships and three regular season conference championships in five seasons.
Before Lakeland, Colwell served as the Assistant Mens and Womens Soccer Coach at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. During the 2000-01 Season the women advanced to NAIA Regional Semi-finals and were ranked 10th in the nation. The mens team finished 13-5-2. Colwell began his coaching career as Assistant Mens Soccer Coach at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana from 1998-2000. Earlham was a Division III National Tournament participant in 1998 and set school record for wins in a season in 1999 with a 16-3-1 record.
He holds his USSF B, NSCAA Advanced National, NSCAA Youth National, and his Scottish Football Association B License.

Will Greer has been the head coach of the Lawrence University men's soccer team since 2016.

Greer brought a wealth of coaching experience at multiple levels and a diverse network of soccer connections. Greer was serving as the youth coaching director at Rush Wisconsin Soccer Club in Middleton, Wis., and as a head coach in the Olympic Development Program at the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association.

Greer was named interim head coach in September 2016 but was a familiar face within the program. Greer served as an assistant coach with the Vikings for six seasons from 2007-12. The Vikings made three Midwest Conference Tournament appearances during that stretch.

Greer, a 2003 Marian University graduate, led Lawrence to a 5-7-1 record in games he coached in 2016, and the Vikings finished with a 6-10-1 overall mark. He was then named the head coach in January 2017.

Greer and his wife, Jodi, live in Appleton and have three children.

Kyle Clark

Kyle Clark joined Ursinus as an assistant coach prior to the 2019 season.

Clark spent the prior year as an assistant at Penn State-Abington, which won the NEAC championship and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He was responsible for film breakdown and review as well as assisting with daily preparations for training and matches. Abington produced seven all-conference players in the 2018 campaign, including the NEAC player of the year.

Clark also served as coach of the U12 Boys D and U10 Girls B teams of Lower Merion Soccer Club, developing and conducting training sessions and handling all operations.

Before his time at Penn State-Abington, Clark spent a year as an assistant for Homer Soccer Club in New York and completed a pair of stints as an assistant for his alma mater, Tompkins Cortland Community College. In 2013, the squad posted an undefeated regular season, won the MSAC title, and produced a pair of NSCAA All-Americans. Clark was a starter and NJCAA Region III All-Tournament Team selection for the 2012 group that also won the MSAC.

Kyle Clancy

Kyle Clancy joined the men's soccer staff in February of 2021. He comes to Knox after serving as a graduate assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the last two seasons.

Clancy, a two-year captain, competed for UW-Whitewater during the 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 seasons, helping the team reach the NCAA Tournament as a starter in 2014 and 2015. He was named honorable mention All-Wisconsin State by the United Soccer Coaches in 2018 after posting 12 points on two goals and a team-high eight assists.
 
Clancy competed in 79 matches during his Warhawk career, including 63 as a starter, and totaled 19 points on three goals and 13 assists. He earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll accolades three times and was selected as a National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American in 2018-19 for his commitment to strength and conditioning coupled with his athletic accomplishments.

Clancy has earned three certifications from the United Soccer Coaches, including a Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma, a Futsal Level 1 Diploma and a Special Topics Diploma: Sports Psychology and Individual Mental Skills.
 
A native of Palatine, Ill., Clancy graduated with a bachelor's in physical education with an emphasis in health, human performance and recreation. He is pursuing a master's in education (professional studies) with an emphasis in higher education athletic administration.

Now that fall season is well underway we wanted to reach out and thank you all for your support and flexibility. It takes a village to run a club and all of your help has been greatly appreciated!




 


We would also like to take this time to reintroduce our new Director of Coaching and Executive Director, Coach Kris Hall.




 


Coach Hall is a Northern California native who has US National, Professional, Collegiate, and youth club Director experience. Coach Hall currently serves as FC Davis Head Coach which competes in the semi-pro National Premier Soccer League. Prior to returning to the Vacaville area Coach Hall served as an assistant coach from 2019 Spring 2021 with the Professional team Oakland Roots of the USL Championship League.




 


Hall grew up in Northern California playing in the local competitive leagues, Super-Y League, and Player Development League (PDL). In his youth career Hall was one of the original classes of Project 20 which we know today as the Olympic Development Program. He rose from the District level to the California State Team, through the Regional Pool to the US Youth National team. Hall played four years of collegiate soccer and finished his professional career in the NPSL and what we know as the USL today!




 


Over the past two decades Coach Hall has coached at three universities; California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO), University of the Pacific, and California State University East Bay (CSUEB). Hall currently serves as a coach for San Francisco State University. In addition to coaching collegiately Coach Hall takes great pride in the development of youth soccer. Hes always created time to give back to the local communities and has served at multiple clubs as a Director of Coaching and Technical Director.




 


In 2012 Coach Hall started Maverick Goalkeeper Academy (MGA) and has grown the business from location performing camps into a powerhouse organizations that has 8 locations throughout the Sacramento area, Bay area, and Central Coast. MGA is a leader in curriculum development, tournaments, individual & groups trainings, and coaches education.




 


In his thirst for knowledge and developing the American game of soccer, Hall has traveled to over 10 countries learning and coaching in soccer clubs throughout Europe. Some note worthy clubs include: Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Ajax, Sheffield Wednesday, Chievo, Valencia, Real Madrid, Borussia Monchengladback, Borussia Dortmund, FC Sparta, FC Utrecht, Twente, Heracles, Sparta Rotterdam, and S.B.V. Excelsior. During Halls travels he has had the pleasure of working with world class coaches such as; Peter Bosz, Frans Hoek, Louis van Gaal, Brad Friedel, Kees Kalk, Edwin van der Sar, and Patrick Kluivert.




 


When asked which experience shaped his coaching and leadership style the most, he responded, I am an amalgamation of my experiences. There is so much Ive learned from traveling and coaching in professional clubs and within dedicated youth clubs. However I believe the most important thing Ive learned is there is not one right way to do things, but a right way for your club. In every club Ive been apart of, whether a professional team, college team, or youth team, Ive asked who are we. From there we define our culture and build development and business plans to be successful.




 


Coach Kris Hall joined Vacaville United Soccer Club in June 2021. He also serves as a coach in the Olympic Development Program (CalNorth), Player Development Program (NorCal), and as Vice Chair for NorCal. We are very pleased to have his leadership in the club and welcome him into the VUSC family.

Felix Mats (M.S., 04) has been the Head Mens Soccer Coach at St. Thomas University since March 2006. During his tenure, Coach Mats has managed to transform the Mens Soccer program at STU into an international commodity that attracts top athletes and coaches from around the world. Under Coach Mats, STU Mens Soccer experienced the most successful period in their recent history, winning three consecutive Sun Conference Regular Season titles from 2010-2012. The 2010 season was especially remarkable for Coach Mats and the Bobcats: Not only did the STU Mens Soccer team win The Sun Conference Regular Season title, but they also won The Sun Conference Tournament and reached the NAIA National Championship Opening Round for the first time in program history. In the 2016 season, Coach Mats and the team were able to bring home the hardware yet again, winning The Sun Conference Championship Tournament for the second time in school history. Winning the tournament helped St. Thomas earn a bid to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round for a second time in the program's existence.




Background

Born in Riga, Latvia, Mats began learning the tactics and techniques of European football from a young age. He played in the Riga football school as a youth, the starting point for many Latvian internationals. He was also a member of the Youth Latvian National Players Combine, a highly selective group.

Mats left Latvia to attend Indiana University-Bloomington, graduating in 1999 with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development along with a minor in Psychology. These specializations reflect his coaching style, which is viewed as gaining a true understanding of his players in order to maximize their potential. While working toward the completion of his Bachelors Degree, Mats served as a student assistant for the Indiana University Men's Soccer team from 1996-1998, including the 1997 season in which they reached the semifinal round of the NCAA Division I Mens Soccer Championship. 

Mats has been constantly expanding on his coaching experience since graduating from Indiana University. In 2001, he served as a volunteer assistant at NCAA Division II University of Tampa. In 2003, he was the Head Boys Soccer Coach at Miami Beach High School when they reached a regional semifinal. From 2002-2006, he began his career at STU as an Assistant Coach with the Womens Soccer team. During this period, Mats worked on obtaining his Masters Degree in Sports Administration from STU, which he completed in 2004. Additionally, Mats has served as Director of Coaching and Technical Development for the Miami Lakes Soccer Club and coached as a part of the U.S. Olympic Developmental Program (ODP).  He is a United States Soccer Federation (USSF A License) and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) licensed coach.
