Brian Bouhl

Brian Bouhl joined the Hoyas in 2018 as the volunteer assistant coach.  He comes to the Hilltop from Coastal Carolina University. Bouhl assists in all aspects of the program, with primary responsibility on coaching the Hoya goalkeepers and managing the sport science program.




 


Bouhl spent the past three seasons at the University of Kentucky where he was the director of operations for mens soccer.  There he worked with all aspects of the program focusing on team operations including training, sport science, travel and camps. During that time, the Wildcats made NCAA tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016, including a program-first No. 16 seed in 2016.




 


While in Lexington, Bouhl was a staff coach with Lexington FC for five years, coaching the 1999 and 2001 boys age groups, as well as coaching goalkeepers for the club.




 


He began his coaching career at Centre College in 2014 as an assistant coach.  At Centre, Bouhl coached the goalkeepers while also managing the squads daily schedule from training to equipment and social media.




 


Bouhl also spent time coaching in the PDL with Myrtle Beach Mutiny and Derby City Rovers.




 


A native of Louisville, Kentucky, he earned a bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky. He holds his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) E License as well as the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Diploma 1.




 


Bouhl resides in the Glover Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

Jhojan Obando

Obando has been instrumental in producing some of the program's best goalkeepers. In 2019, he coached Andrew Verdi to Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year honors and a school record for lowest goals-against average (0.78, minimum 1,000 minutes). After Verdi went down with an injury late in the season, Obando quickly installed freshman Owen Finnerty between the pipes. Finnerty played every minute of the final seven matches, which included runs to the Big Ten Tournament final and the NCAA Sweet 16. Between the two of them, U-M had 11 shutouts in 2019, most in a single season in school history. Four of the five spots behind Verdi on the school's all-time list for lowest GAA were coached by Obando, including Henry Mashburn (0.81 in 2018), Verdi (1.02 in 2017) and Evan Louro (1.05 in 2015).

With Obando's goalkeepers in net, U-M has set, then tied, the school record for fewest goals allowed in a season, conceding 18 goals in both 2018 and 2019. Four of the top seven defenses in program history -- as judged by goals-against average -- have come in the last five years under Obando's watch (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019). He's mentored 2012 All-Big Ten second-team honoree Adam Grinwis (formerly of Orlando City SC) and fellow program alum Evan Louro (formerly of the New York Red Bulls). 

A native of Colombia, Obando possesses a USSF National C License, as well as an NSCAA Level III goalkeeping certificate. He played in 44 career matches (42 starts) as a goalkeeper at Providence under the guidance of Chaka Daley as a student-athlete, helping the Friars to a 24-14-4 record and recording 13 shutouts. In 2010, Obando helped the Friars to the championship game of the Big East Tournament and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Additionally, he was part of three Providence teams that made the NCAA Tournament. During the last two seasons, the Friars hosted an NCAA Tournament first-round match for the first times in school history, and advanced to the second round on each occasion. He was one of four goalkeepers invited to the 2012 adidas MLS Player Combine and most recently played for the Des Moines Menace in the Premier Development League.

Cameron Petty

Former Belmont University mens soccer goalkeeper Cameron Petty is in his first season assisting the Bruins as a volunteer assistant coach/goalkeeper coach. Head coach David Costa appointed Petty to help the program's goalkeepers in August of 2022.
 
A Belmont graduate and Franklin, Tennessee, native, Petty was a four-year member of the mens soccer team and three-year letter winner for the Bruins. He has expansive knowledge of the game and goalkeeping position as a local youth goalkeeper coach.
 
For years, Petty has been a goalkeeper coach at Caleb Patterson-Sewells CPS Soccer Academy where he continues to lead the Elite Keepers program. Petty is also a goalkeeper staff coach at Tennessee Soccer Club (TSC) Nashville.
 
During his time as a Belmont student-athlete, Petty started 12 matches in front of goal and saw time between the pipes in 15 contests. After redshirting as a true freshman in 2017, Petty recorded 42 saves and earned four shutouts across three seasons. His goals against average was 1.18 and he held a save percentage of .737 in 1,152 minutes in goal. Petty was a three-time Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll member and garnered Belmonts first SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honor on March 2, 2021, following consecutive shutouts to begin the unique 2020-21 spring season.
 
Prior to his Bruin career, Petty starred at Brentwood Academy where he tallied the most clean sheets and most saves en route to all-region honors in 2016. He helped lead the Eagles to a trio of state tournament appearances.

Chris Volk

Chris Volk joined the UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team as an assistant coach in August of 2017. Since his arrival at UCR, he has helped the Highlanders to 3 Big West Championships and two appearances to the NCAA Division I Tournament (2018 and 2022).

Volk is best known to area soccer fans as the longtime assistant coach and head coach at UC Irvine. During his 20 years with the Anteaters, Volk helped UCI to five NCAA Tournament appearances, including three trips to the Sweet 16.

The 'Eaters won four Big West Conference Championships, and four conference tournament titles during his final nine years with the program. Over that time span, UC Irvine compile a 106-67-22 win-loss record, and six national Top-25 rankings.

Volk was named the NSCAA Far West Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 2008, and was a finalist for the national assistant coach of the year that same season.

Eleven of his student-athletes were drafted by MLS teams, and 33 earned Big West All-Academic honors.

Prior to his time at UC Irvine, Volk was the men's assistant coach at San Diego State, the assistant coach and goalkeeper coach at San Diego Mesa College, an assistant in the California Soccer Association South, and a Region IV ODP/Coach and Instructor. He also served as the head coach of the Orange County SC U23 USL PDL, and currently is the DOC for North Huntington Beach FC.

Volk received his bachelor's degree in social science with a minor in Spanish from San Diego State in 1992.

Drew Munoz

Munoz joined Chad Duernbergers staff in Spring 2023 following a year at Trinity after prior stints at Dartmouth College. Prior to Dartmouth, Munoz was an assistant and goalkeeper coach at Bridgton Academy in Maine. At Dartmouth, Munoz created and managed set pieces plays and defensive restart assignments, organized road trip logistics, and managed the team's social media accounts. He served as the recruiting coordinator for Trinity Head Men's Soccer Coach Methembe Ndlovu.

Munoz graduated from Bates College in 2019 where earned a bachelor's degree in rhetoric. He was a four-year letterwinner on the pitch for the Bobcats, started 26 games and earned team rookie of the year and NESCAC All-Sportsmanship awards. As a senior captain, Munoz helped Bates earn its first NESCAC Tournament appearance in eight seasons. He also served as the team's community liaison and as vice president and treasurer for the Bates College Special Olympics Club. Munoz holds his United States Soccer Federation D License and Grassroots License.

My name is Adam Whitehead and I recently joined the Binghamton Bearcats Men's Soccer Coaching staff.

I moved from Long Island, where I coached within the ECNL for SUSA-Albertson. 




Prior to joining the Bearcats, I served as an assistant coach for Division III SUNY Purchase in 2019.

I also assisted the women's soccer program at the University of Northwestern Ohio in the fall of 2018. During that time, helped lead the Racers to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season title.



Before that, I was the head coach for the Long Island Rough Riders United Women's Soccer team from 2017-18, winning the Eastern Conference title and being named UWS Eastern Conference Coach of the Year. 

I played 4 years for the Binghamton Bearcats and graduated in 2013 from with a bachelor's degree in Human Development.

Christopher Martinez

Christopher Martinez enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer program in 2023. 

Martinez joins CMS after earning substantial coaching experience in Texas over the last four years at both the high school and club level, since graduating from Texas A&M in 2022.

For the past year, Martinez has served as the director of the premier program at Urban Champions Academy in San Antonio for the past year, while simultaneously serving as an assistant coach at Central Catholic High School. At the Urban Champions Academy, he was the head coach of the '05 boys team, where he organized and ran training sessions, and prepared for weekly matches. In his role at Central Catholic, he was responsible for scouting opponents and preparing scouting reports, while assisting on tactical preparations. He also assisted in organizing and running training sessions, pregame warm-ups, and organizing set piece personnel.

Before moving to San Antonio, Martinez served three years as a head coach of the '05 Boys and '09 Boys teams at the Calvary Youth Soccer Club in College Station, where he developed, organized and ran training sessions and prepared game plan strategies against opponents. 

He also had a stint in College Station as an assistant coach with the Texas A&M Mens Club Soccer team and volunteered as an assistant coach in the summer of 2021 with Corpus Christi FC, where he aided in the selection of the team roster through tryouts.

Martinez graduated from Texas A&M in 2022 with a degree in political science. He holds US Soccer Federation National C and D licenses, and Grassroot licenses for 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11. He is currently enrolled in both the Coaching Credential degree program under United Soccer Coaches, and his US Soccer Federation B license. Locally, he is involved as a club coach at Legends FC.

Wall, the former 2011 National Player of the Year at Ohio Wesleyan and native of Columbus, Ohio, takes command of the Owls after serving four seasons as head coach at St. Olaf College, an NCAA Division III institution in Northfield, Minnesota. 

At Saint Olaf, Wall led one of the most impressive four-year turnarounds in NCAA Division III mens soccer, transforming a program that was 4-13-1 and 5-13 in the two seasons preceding his arrival. In his first year, he led the team to a 9-9 regular season and an appearance in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) playoffs for the first time in five years. After being picked to finish eighth in the preseason coaches poll and going 2-8 in conference play the year prior, the Oles took sixth place with a 5-5 record, marking the largest year-to-year improvement in the conference. 

After the COVID-19 pandemic canceled his second season in charge, the Oles reappeared as a new team in 2021. He guided St. Olaf to a 19-3-1 record, the MIAC regular-season title, and an appearance in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. He was named both the 2021 MIAC Coach of the Year and the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Region IX Staff of the Year. The 2021 Oles had a top-10 scoring offense and two players named to All-America teams. They tied for the most wins in the country while also orchestrating a 15-game winning streak, which tied for the longest in the country. The Oles reached a national ranking as high as No. 10.

In 2022, the Oles went 15-5-2, won the MIAC Tournament, and made another showing in the NCAA Tournament. The Oles navigated the nations hardest non-conference strength of schedule and again were a top-10 scoring offense in NCAA DIII. Two more players were named to All-America teams after another strong season, and the Oles became one of only five teams in the country to make return trips to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Walls teams had two players named MIAC Rookie of the Year, two MIAC Offensive Players of the Year, eight All-Region players, one Academic All-American, and three players named All-Americans for four total selections. His St. Olaf teams compiled a record of 43-18-3 (.695) and a conference record of 22-7-1 (.750), and the 34 combined wins over the 2021 and 2022 seasons tied for fifth-most in NCAA DIII.

Prior to his time at St. Olaf, Wall was assistant coach for two years and associate head coach for two more years at Ohio Wesleyan. During that span, he recruited three North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Newcomers of the Year, and the Battling Bishops made the NCAA Tournament three times.

Wall also carries three seasons of high-level club coaching experience as the head coach of the U19 Ohio Premier Soccer Club Green team and was named the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Midwest Regional Coach of the Year. In 2018, he led the team to the U19 ECNL National Championship with a team that had eight members sign to play for Division I programs, including Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) National Player of the Year Luke Kiley. The team finished fifth at the US Youth Soccer (USYS) Nationals in 2017 and was a semifinalist in 2016.

In 2014, Wall served as the Director of Soccer Operations at NCAA DI Xavier University. The Musketeers went 15-6-2 and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. At Xavier, he worked with the 2014 Big East Staff of the Year during a season where the Musketeers set program records for wins, shutouts, and goals against average.

During his collegiate playing days, Wall was a two-time first-team All-American, captain of Ohio Wesleyans 2011 national championship team, and the 2011 NSCAA National Player of the Year. As a senior, Wall finished fifth in the country in points (53), ninth in goals (19), and fourth in assists (15) as a member of the third-highest-scoring team in the country. Over his four-year career at OWU, Walls teams went a combined 78-11-5 (.856). He was named to the NCACs All-Decade Team and, after taking his place among Ohio Wesleyans top-five all-time career leaders in goals (49), assists (36), and points (134), was inducted into the universitys Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022 joining both his siblings Sarah and Tyler who were both standouts for the Battling Bishops soccer teams. Following his college career, Wall played two years of professional soccer for Minnesota United FC in 2012 and 2013 in the North American Soccer League.

This is my fourth season as the Emory Men' Soccer 2nd Assistant. My primary duties are working with attacking components that fit our system. I'm also heavily involved with the fitness of the team and charting progress throughout the season to help our head coach making decisions based upon the fitness of our players. Video analysis and scouting reports also are a part of my duties along with recruiting.

In my three previous seasons we had a record of 40-16-3 along with a Elite Eight appearance in the 2017 NCAA D-III tournament. 

In addition to coaching at Emory University I'm also a high school coach. I'm currently in my 20th year as a head coach with 254 wins, 3 state championships (Grayson, Brookwood, and Parkview) along with a state runner-up. I've been NSCAA Georgia Coach of the Year on three occasions, NSCAA South Regional Coach of the Year Twice, and NSCAA National Coach of the Year Finalist twice.

Tj Kostecky

TJ Kostecky arrived at Bard in July of 2019.

He came to Bard after 20 years as the head coach at Div. I LIU-Brooklyn, where he led the Blackbirds to the 2018 NCAA Tournament in his final season there. During his tenure there, he won three Northeast Conference titles, made three NCAA Tournament appearances and was the NEC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.

As successful as his teams have been on the pitch, Kosteckys squads were also devoted in the classroom. His 2003 & 2012 teams posted the highest team grade point average in the nation. The 2008 & 2015 squads was awarded the NEC Team Academic Award for posting the highest GPA among mens soccer teams in the conference. The 2011 & 2013 teams were distinguished by the conference with the NEC Sportsmanship Award.

Kostecky has a proven track record of rebuilding programs, having engineered successful turnarounds at each of his prior coaching stops. Prior to LIU, he took over an Appalachian State program in Boone, N.C., that had suffered four consecutive losing seasons prior to Kosteckys hiring in 1998. In his only season at the school, he led the Mountaineers to a 13-8 mark in 1998, marking the best first-year record for a coach in the programs history of over 40 years. For his efforts, he was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year.

Kostecky arrived in Boone following a successful run as head coach and director of athletics at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C., from 1994-97. He was handed the reins of a program that had suffered eight straight losing seasons before he led the team to a 46-25-7 record and captured two Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference championships. Kostecky was named CVAC Coach of the Year in 1997 and mentored one All-American and nine all-conference honorees during his tenure.

He began his collegiate coaching career at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he led the Highlanders from 1988-93. NJIT compiled a 67-37-11 mark in his six years, capturing conference championships in 1991 and 1992 and making four ECAC postseason trips. Kosteckys accomplishments at NJIT came in his native New Jersey, where he starred scholastically at Woodbridge Township High School.

Tactically, Kosteckys attacking practice sessions involve a system called Vision Training that he and business partner Len Bilous developed several years ago. This method helps players make smart, well-informed decisions by improving their field vision.

A featured clinician around the world, Kostecky conducted a coaching seminar in Masku, Finland, in March of 2005 on Vision Training. In early 2005, he released a video under the same name for players and coaches to use. Since its release, it has become one of the most requested coaching video's in the country and abroad.


TJ is currently finishing up a self-help book through Benbella books publishing  that's set to be released in the winter of 2023. The title of the book is "Eyes up! A soccer guru's guide to scoring big in the game of life". 

Throughout his career, Kostecky has been an instrumental figure in facilitating the growth of soccer in America. From 1987-94 he was a coach for New Jerseys Olympic Development Team and was responsible for the training and selection of the states top players for the United States National Team. When he accepted his post at Pfeiffer, he filled a similar role with North Carolinas Olympic Development squad. Several of the players he mentored have played succeeded at the international level, including former U.S. National Team captain Claudio Reyna, and moved onto professional leagues such as Major League Soccer.

Kostecky has also worked with U.S. Mens and Womens National Team members, including Julie Foudy, a captain of the 1999 Womens World Cup Champions. He conducted an instructional clinic for inner city children at the 1998 NCAA Division I Championships in Richmond, Va., for the NCAA Youth Education Through Sports Program and was again a guest clinician for YES at the 1999 and 2000 NCAA Championships.

In 1989, Kostecky founded Soccer Start, a youth soccer program for inner city children. He served as the programs National Chairman until 1993. The program continues to identify and cultivate the abundance of talent in the inner-cities. He was appointed World Cup 94 Committee Chair by then New Jersey Governor Jim Florio and coordinated training site activities in the Metropolitan area for each international team.

A former all-state performer at Woodbridge, he was inducted into the schools Hall of Fame in 1995. He played midfield on the mens soccer team at East Stroudsburg University and received a bachelors degree in health and physical education in 1983. He completed his masters degree at East Stroudsburg in the same field in 1992.

Xavier Tomlin has been on the staff at Centre College since the fall of 2019 where he spent the first two seasons as a Volunteer Assistant. He stepped into the full time Assistant role in 2021, helping lead the Colonels to their fourth conference championship in 6 years.

Miguel Mendoza

Miguel Mendoza is in his second season as a assistant coach with the Concordia University Irvine mens soccer team.
 
Mendoza played for the Eagles from 2014-2017 and earned his bachelors degree in exercise sports science (ESS). As a player, he was named 2016 PacWest Newcomer of the Year and was voted Second Team All-PacWest that same season.
 
As a Graduate assistant Mendoza has just finished his Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration (MCAA). Mendoza serves as the Technical coach for both the Mens and Womens Soccer Teams at CUI. 

Cameron Bushéy

Cameron Bushéy became the men's soccer assistant coach at California State University, Stanislaus in 2020. Bushéy was previously the assistant mens soccer coach at Gonzaga University from 2018-2020. Prior to that, he was the head coach of the mens first team and a Director of Coaching from 2015-2018 at the Spokane Shadow Soccer Club as well as the assistant mens soccer coach at Spokane Falls Community College where he was able to give back to the soccer community that he grew up in.

Erick Lemus

Erick Lemus is in his first season as an assistant coach for the University of Illinois Springfield mens soccer program in 2020-21.
 
Lemus was an assistant coach at Marymount University during the 2019 season. He helped that team go 12-7-1 on the year and reach the conference tournament championship game. The Mariners ranked in the upper half of the league by allowing 1.74 goals per game, and goalie Ramon Garcia was named second-team all-conference.
 
Lemus was an assistant coach for the mens and womens soccer teams at the University of Hawaii at Hilo from 2015-18. In 2018, he helped the womens squad accomplish the best record in program history at 10-4-2, and it finished second in the Pacific West Conference. He coached the goalie that year to the second-best GAA record in program history with a 0.60 mark. On the mens side, Lemus developed the programs goalie into setting the program record for saves. In his four seasons coaching at Hawaii at Hilo, his goalies earned five Womens PacWest Defender of the Week awards and three Mens PacWest Defender of the Week honors.
 
Other coaching stops included being the head coach at the high school level at Mary Star of the Sea High School and Waiakea High School, and a club coach for Hawaii Rush and FRAM Soccer Club. He is also currently coaching at Central Illinois United in Springfield, Ill. and is a coach for the Impact Goalkeeper Academy.
 
Lemus is certified with a US Soccer C License, and is currently working on the B license. He attended the International Goalkeeper Coaches Conference in Los Angeles in December 2019.

Thomas Chameraud joined Embry-Riddle men's soccer as an assistant coach in January 2023. He brought nearly a decade of coaching experience to his new role with the Eagles.
 
Chameraud was the assistant head coach at Bethel University (Tenn.) the year prior, aiding the Wildcats to a 12-4-3 mark and an appearance in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship match.
 
He spent the previous 11 seasons involved with the men's soccer program at Montana State University Billings as both a student-athlete and coach. From 2020-22, he led the Yellowjackets as the program's head coach after serving in an assistant role from 2013-19.
 
Before transitioning into a coaching position, Chameraud made an impact on the pitch for MSU Billings during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. He was coached by Dan McNally, a former member of the Embry-Riddle men's soccer program from 1996-1999. During those two years, Chameraud accumulated 28 points with 18 assists over 36 matches as a midfielder and was a two-time All-Conference selection. He also received All-West Region honors.
 
Additionally, Chameraud has coached various youth and developmental programs including the Under-14 (2022) and Under-18 (2021) Billings Timbers United, Montana Olympic Development Program (2018-2022), Under-13 (2016) and Under-16 (2012) Magic City Impact Academy, and the Wyoming Olympic Development Program's winter training camp (2015).
 
Chameraud possesses four coaching licenses including a U.S. Soccer C-License, NSCAA Advanced Regional Level 5 and 6 licenses, and a Fédération Francaise de Football Initiateur license.
 
He earned his bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies at MSU Billings in 2013 followed by his master's degree in Public Relations in 2015 from the same institution. Chameraud was included on the dean's list on three occasions and received Academic All-Conference honors. He also possesses a bachelor's degree in Sports Marketing from the Business School of Chambéry in France.

Arnold comes to PBA after a playing career at the University of Indianapolis for one year before transferring to Coastal Carolina University where he played for a season and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Sports Management degree. 

Arnold transitioned into a coaching role with the Chanticleers as a goalie coach in 2021 and as a strength and conditioning intern. Daily responsibilities included assisting with the daily operations of the mens soccer team, assisting the goalkeeper coach, and helping run ID camps and look after recruits when visiting campus.

Dru Sin is in his second season with the Tigers coaching staff. His first as the assistant. Sin returned to Campbellsville University in the fall of 2019 as a graduate assistant for the program.

In 2019, Sin helped lead the Tigers to a 14-7-1 overall record going 5-3 inside MSC play. He also helped lead the Tigers to their First NAIA Appearance since 2016. Sin was able to assist in six NCCAA All-Americans in Maximilian Kohlfuerst (First Team), Marc Lawerence (First Team), Owen Stott (Second Team), Connor Grant (Second Team), Tom Edge (Second Team), and Gustav Oskarsson (Third Team).

A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Sin was a four-year starter for the Tigers and served his final two seasons as one of the team captains. Sin was also a three-time recipient of the Campbellsville University Champion of Character Award, presented to one player from each CU sports program annually.

In his four years as a defender on the CU men's soccer team, he played in a University record 83 games while starting 67 contests on the Tigers' back line. Over that time, he recorded two goals and five assists with his season-high in points coming in his senior season of 2013 when he finished with a goal and two assists.

Mac Thomalla joined the Musketeers in July of 2023 as an assistant men's soccer coach.

Thomalla was an assistant coach at McKendree from 2020-23, helping the Bearcats post a 19-16-12 (17-14-8 GLVC) record. He also helped coach seven players to All-GLVC honors during his time on the bench.

Thomalla served as the head coach of the St. Louis Scott Gallagher (Elite 04/05, IL) team from 2021-23. He also has club experience as an assistant coach for St. Louis Scott Gallagher (ECNL 06, IL) from 2022-23.

Thomalla was the head coach of Woodley Saints FC (Woodley, England) in 2018 and served as a soccer coach for Elite FT (Columbia, Ill.) in 2017.

Thomalla played at McKendree from 2017-20, playing in 48 GLVC matches. He earned all-conference honors in 2019 and helped the Bearcats capture the 2019 GLVC Championship. Thomalla helped the Bearcats advance to the second round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

The Reading, England native holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from McKendree ('21) and a master's degree in education from McKendree ('23).

Gerard Miniaci is returning to VMI for the 2020 season after completing two seasons as a member of the NCAA Division III New England College mens soccer coaching staff in Henniker, N.H. His second season at NEC, Miniaci was hired as the Interim Head Coach of the mens soccer program, leading the Pilgrims to a second-place finish in the NECC. During his time at NEC, Miniaci also earned a masters degree in Sports and Recreational Management. Prior to NEC, he was the assistant coach with the mens program at VMI. Before coaching at VMI, Miniaci was the head varsity coach at Broadway High School for three seasons.
 
As an undergraduate, Miniaci attended Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA where he played three seasons with the mens soccer team. He graduated with a bachelors degree in Health and Exercise Science.

John Ciano

John Ciano will begin his sixth season at the helm of The College of Saint Rose mens soccer program this autumn after being appointed in the spring of 2016. The 11th mentor in program annals, Ciano has meticulously positioned the Golden Knights within the upper echelon of the Northeast-10 Conference and on the precipice of national prominence.
 
Saint Rose has increased its win total throughout each of Cianos previous four years, which culminated in 2019 with the most successful season in the programs 38-year history.
 
The Golden Knights advanced to their first NE10 Championship semifinal and final matches, had a school record five players earn seven different All-Conference awards, recorded the first 10-win campaign in school annals, and on three occasions were ranked as high as sixth in the United Soccer Coaches East Region Weekly Poll. Saint Rose also finished second in the NE10 with a team 1.16 goals-against-average and lost only one home match all year.
 
The future holds promise as well. Three-fourths of last years roster was comprised of freshmen and sophomores.
Looking back, Saint Rose had a breakout season in 2018. The Golden Knights finished 8-7-1 overall and were ranked among the top eight teams in the Region in three separate United Soccer Coaches weekly polls.
 
Three years ago, Ciano guided Saint Rose to a sixth place finish in the NE10, which represented its then best ever finish throughout the programs 18-year NE10 tenure. It also represented the programs first postseason berth under Ciano.
 
Prior to his arrival on Western Avenue, Ciano served as an assistant coach for three years at nearby Siena College where he was engaged in recruiting, tactics and personnel decisions, goalkeeping training, analyzing game film, and running youth and college prospect camps.
 
He helped guide the Saints to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) semifinals in 2015 and a 10-win campaign in 2014. Sienas 10 wins were tied for the second most in school history. The Saints furthermore put together their first-ever undefeated home schedule (6-0-2) and were among those teams receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll for two weeks in mid-September. Ciano, whose duties primarily revolved around the squads goalkeepers, helped mentor 2014 MAAC All-Rookie pick John Weiss who registered six clean sheets, one shy of the school record. In addition, Weiss was a two-time MAAC and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree.
 
Ciano, a four-year starter at Central Connecticut State (2005) and Manhattan (2006-08), previously worked as an assistant for former Siena head coach Cesar Markovic at NJIT in Newark, N.J. He managed the Highlanders goalkeepers who posted a 1.67 goals-against-average in 2012, after recording a 2.03 GAA the previous season; and a 1.44 GAA in 2013. Ciano also helped Markovic lead NJIT to its best ever NCAA Division I record with a 10-9 slate in 2012.
 
Ciano began his coaching career at Manhattanville where he helped direct the Valiants to a two-year 23-11-2 slate in 2009-10 and the 2009 Freedom Conference Regular-Season Championship.
 
Ciano played his freshman campaign at Central Connecticut State before moving on to Manhattan for his final three years. He appeared in 46 matches, with 45 starts, was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, and graduated cum laude with a bachelors degree in physical education.
 
Ciano, who is originally from Syosset N.Y., has played semi-professional soccer for the Brooklyn Knights of the United States Soccer League PDL.
 
He holds a USSF B License, and United Soccer Coaches Premier and Advanced National Goalkeeping Diplomas. Ciano is a coaching education instructor for Eastern New York and US Soccer, and furthermore has experience with the NY Elite Alleycats FC Soccer Club, and the U.S. Region 1 and Eastern New York Olympic Development squads.
