Andrew Coughlin

Goalkeeper Coach

Syracuse

Division 1

Coughlin joined the Orange staff as a volunteer assistant coach in 2016. A Syracuse native, Coughlin has five years of experience playing at the collegiate level and is actively playing professionally.
 
Coughlin started his collegiate soccer career at Syracuse University, where he played for the Orange for three years. After redshirting his freshman year, Coughlin made three appearances in his career at Syracuse, not allowing a goal in any of those outings.
 
Following his redshirt sophomore season, Coughlin transferred to Canisius College, where he was a two-year starter at the goalkeeper position and team captain. He finished his collegiate career with seven school records including single-season records for shutouts (8), goals-against average (.85) and wins (9). He was voted to the 50th anniversary All-Canisius XI First Team. Coughlin was named WNY Goalkeeper of the Year in 2014 and 2015.
 
After graduating from Canisus in December of 2015, Coughlin signed with the Syracuse Silver Knights in the Major Arena Soccer League. A current member of the active roster, Coughlin went 5-2 and was voted to the MASL All-Rookie First Team. He also received the Syracuse Silver Knights Unsung Hero award voted on by the players and coaches.
 

Andrew Fishman

Columbia (NY)

Division 1

Andrew Fishman is in his first season as an assistant coach on the Columbia men's soccer staff. He was hired in September of 2024 after serving as an assistant coach for one full season at Lehigh University.

Among his responsibilities at Lehigh, Fishman created goalkeeper training sessions for each practice, assisted in the development of team practice plans, evaluated and scouted prospective recruits. He also brings coaching experience at the club level, including serving as head coach of Lehigh Valley United. In his first year at Lehigh Valley United, he coached one team to win the Pennsylvania State Cup while the other teams state ranking rose 80 places. He also currently coaches at Success Academy Charter School.

As a competitor, the former goalkeeper was a three-year member of the Lehigh men's soccer team. He helped the Mountain Hawks win the 2020 Patriot League Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament. 

Fishman graduated from Lehigh in May of 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in supply chain management. He went on to earn a Masters of Education in sports psychology from the University of Missouri in July of 2024.

John Shimer

Division 1

John Shimer joined the Boston College Eagles after a successful 6-year stint just down the road at Pine Manor College where he founded the Division III men's program in 2014 and led the Gators to two ACAA conference championships, an overall 56-33-9 record, and over 30 All-Conference selections.




Previously Shimer worked at both Endicott College where he brought in a class that featured two CCC Defensive Players of the Year and one All-American. That class would help lead Endicott to 4 straight regular season conference championships. Prior to Endicott, Shimer worked at his alma mater Ohio Wesleyan for a season where the Battling  Bishops won the regular season NCAC conference championship and ultimately advanced to the first round of the NCAA tournament. 

Jhojan Obando

Assistant Coach

Division 1

Obando has been instrumental in producing some of the program's best goalkeepers. In 2019, he coached Andrew Verdi to Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year honors and a school record for lowest goals-against average (0.78, minimum 1,000 minutes). After Verdi went down with an injury late in the season, Obando quickly installed freshman Owen Finnerty between the pipes. Finnerty played every minute of the final seven matches, which included runs to the Big Ten Tournament final and the NCAA Sweet 16. Between the two of them, U-M had 11 shutouts in 2019, most in a single season in school history. Four of the five spots behind Verdi on the school's all-time list for lowest GAA were coached by Obando, including Henry Mashburn (0.81 in 2018), Verdi (1.02 in 2017) and Evan Louro (1.05 in 2015).

With Obando's goalkeepers in net, U-M has set, then tied, the school record for fewest goals allowed in a season, conceding 18 goals in both 2018 and 2019. Four of the top seven defenses in program history -- as judged by goals-against average -- have come in the last five years under Obando's watch (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019). He's mentored 2012 All-Big Ten second-team honoree Adam Grinwis (formerly of Orlando City SC) and fellow program alum Evan Louro (formerly of the New York Red Bulls). 

A native of Colombia, Obando possesses a USSF National C License, as well as an NSCAA Level III goalkeeping certificate. He played in 44 career matches (42 starts) as a goalkeeper at Providence under the guidance of Chaka Daley as a student-athlete, helping the Friars to a 24-14-4 record and recording 13 shutouts. In 2010, Obando helped the Friars to the championship game of the Big East Tournament and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Additionally, he was part of three Providence teams that made the NCAA Tournament. During the last two seasons, the Friars hosted an NCAA Tournament first-round match for the first times in school history, and advanced to the second round on each occasion. He was one of four goalkeepers invited to the 2012 adidas MLS Player Combine and most recently played for the Des Moines Menace in the Premier Development League.

Chris Gores

Washington (WA)

Division 1

Chris Gores is in his fifth year as an assistant at Washington on the staff of his former college teammate, Jamie Clark.

During the 2017 season, Gores helped the Huskies again reach the NCAA tournament as UW posted a 12-7-1 overall record. In addition to four victories over NCAA Top 25 teams, Gores helped coach yet another Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in Blake Bodily, who tallied three goals and eight assists. He joined Handwalla Bwana in receiving first-team All-Pac-12 honors with Kyle Coffee, Garrett Jackson, Quentin Pearson and Saif Kerawala earning second-team honors. In addition, Justin Fiddes was selected in the first round of the MLS Superdraft by the Vancouver Whitecaps while Handwalla Bwana signed as a Homegrown Selection with Sounders FC.

2016 saw Gores and the Huskies make it to the third round of the NCAA tournament for the third time in four years.  The Huskies went 14-7-0 that year, outscoring the opposition by 15 goals over the 21-game season.  Gores helped coach Handwalla Bwana to Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors, as well as All-Pac-12 honors for Auden Schilder, Henry Wingo, and Justin Schmidt.

In 2015, Gores helped the Huskies to an 8-5-6 record.  The team allowed just 13 goals in 19 games.  Ryan Herman was named an All-American and First Team All-Pac-12 that year, while Gores helped five other Huskies make it to the All-Pac-12 team.

Gores helped the Huskies to another tremendous season in his first year at UW, finishing with a record of 12-5-3 and a trip to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 2014. The Dawgs started the year 9-1-0 and earned their first No. 1 national ranking since 1997, before eventually being named the No. 14 seed in the NSCAA Tournament. Gores coached several players who earned honors in 2014, including Cristian Roldan and Andy Thoma who were named Third Team All-American by the NSCAA. Roldan and Darwin Jones were also each named to the First Team All-Pac-12 Team.

Gores comes to Washington from Florida Gulf Coast where he spent one season. For the Eagles, Gores helped FGCU become the first program in Atlantic Sun Conference history to win four straight regular-season championships courtesy of a 6-1-1 league record. After starting the season 0-5-1, including a loss to Washington, Eagles went 8-1-1 over their final 10 regular-season games. During that span FGCU out-scored its opponents 14-6, including 12-4 in A-Sun action.

Before joining the Eagles, Gores spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the Harvard mens soccer team, where he focused heavily on recruiting, and helped coach the team to numerous upsets against nationally ranked opponents.

Prior to beginning his coaching career, Gores spent eight years playing professionally for five different teams in the United Soccer League. Additionally, Gores served as captain of the Puerto Rico Mens National Team, competing in both the 2010 World Cup qualifiers and the 2005 Digicel Cup.

Gores played collegiately at Stanford alongside Clark, where they led the nation in scoring defense and helped the Cardinal finish second in the NCAA Tournament during the 1998 season. He graduated in 2000 with a degree in international relations.

In 2011 Gores received the FIFA recognized United States Soccer Federation National A License.

Jason Hotaling

Hotalings duties include coordinating the programs recruiting efforts, team travel, and scouting, while also working on developing the UC Davis goalkeepers. Jason has been on my staff for many years, working his way up from a volunteer assistant to his new position as the associate head coach, Head Coach Dwayne Shaffer said. He has been instrumental in the development of our outstanding goalkeepers throughout the years and will now assume more responsibility in helping take our program to the next level. Hotaling has helped engineer the Aggies successful transition to the Division I level and the always difficult Big West Conference, helping lead UC Davis to a 94-89-35 overall record in his 11 seasons, with a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances in 2007 (first round) and 2008 (second round) and five consecutive trips to the Big West Tournament, winning the conferences North Division and earning a spot into the tournaments championship match in 2012, while gaining the semifinals in 2011, 2013, and 2015. Under his tutelage, 31 student-athletes have been named to the various All-Big West teams, including five first-team honorees. In only its second full season of play at the Division I level, Hotaling also helped tutor a pair of NSCAA All-Americans in 2008, as Quincy Amarikwa and Dylan Curtis earned second- and third-team honors, respectively. Four other student-athletes: Amarikwa (2008, first team), Dylan Curtis (2008, first team), Brian Ford (2012, third team), and Omar Zeenni (2013, second team), have also been named to the NSCAA All-Far West Region squad during his time on the sidelines. In net, Hotaling has coached some of the Aggies best goalkeepers, including UC Davis first Big West Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honoree in Zeenni following the 2013 season. The record-setting keeper set school career marks for shutouts (18) and saves (220), while ranking second all-time in goals against average (0.98) -- totals that also rank him among the Big Wests all-time best following his career. The 2008 season saw goalkeeper Ryan McCowan allow a program Division I record-low 20 goals (while leading the Big West with a 0.87 GAA), a mark that was later equalled in 2012 behind the combined efforts of Zeenni and Kris Schlutz, while his keepers have posted a sub-1.00 team goals against average on three occasions, including in each of the last two seasons. The Aggies goalkeepers have also stopped better than 70 percent of the shots against them in five of his nine seasons, including a Division I-record .780 in 2012. In addition to this duties at UC Davis, Hotaling works as a head coach for the U14 Boys team at FC Elk Grove and with the Olympic Development Program in District 6, coaching and developing players while serving as a state evaluator. He also holds a B license, along with an advanced national coaching license and a goalkeeper license, with the NSCAA and has taken leadership and management courses along the way. After his collegiate playing career at Santa Rosa Junior College and Chico State, Hotaling was a member of the Chico Rooks of the Premier Development League. He then returned to his hometown of Rohnert Park, Calif., where he finished his undergraduate degree at Sonoma State in 1997. Hotaling majored in speech communication with a minor in English. Scott Krotee

Scott Krotee wrapped up his fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach on the Saint Josephs mens soccer staff in Fall 2017. Krotees primary responsibility is working with SJUs goalkeepers.

From 2016-17, Krotee coached goalkeeper Greg O'Connell to three Philadelphia Soccer Six Defender of the Week honors and two Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors in a pair of seasons in which O'Connell recorded nine wins and seven shutouts in 34 appearances. Under Krotee's direction and in just two seasons as SJU's primary goalkeeper, O'Connell broke into SJU's all-time top ten in career goals against average (1.54), career saves (150, through 35 career matches), and career shutouts (7).

From 2014-15, Krotee coached goalkeeper Bobby Edwards to 2014 Philadelphia Soccer Six All-Rookie Team honors, as well as six weekly accolades between the A-10 and Philadelphia Soccer Six. Additionally, Krotee coached O'Connell to Philadelphia Soccer Six Defender of the Week honors after the sophomore's first collegiate appearance in 2015.

Previously, Krotee played professionally for four years. In 2015 and 2016, he was ranked among the "Top 100 American Goalkeepers Prospects for the 2018 World Cup."

Most recently, he was the goalkeeper for the Harrisburg Heat out of the Major Arena Soccer League. In 2015-16, he played 10 matches totaling 194 saves in 578:55 for a .721 save percentage. In 2014-15, Krotee played one full match, making 13 saves, before suffering a season-ending injury.

Prior to the Heat, Krotee signed with MLS's Columbus Crew USL Pro affiliate club Dayton Dutch Lions on June 2, 2014 and appeared in one match over the course of that season.

From 2013-14, Krotee competed for the Pennsylvania Roar of the Major Indoor Soccer League. In nine games with the Roar, he posted a .706 save percentage in 346:34 to earn MISL All-Rookie Team accolades.

In 2012, Krotee made appearances with Reading United AC, the MLSs Philadelphia Union player-development partner, in the Premier Development League, with whom he posted a 0.55 goals-against average in 165 minutes in net.

Krotee enjoyed a decorated four-year career as a Division I goalkeeper at Gardner-Webb University from 2008-12. Krotee ranked fifth nationally in total saves (107) and sixth nationally in saves per game (5.94) in his senior season and led the Big South in shutouts as a junior. He graduated with school records for lowest career goals-against average (1.39) and lowest single-season goals-against average (1.10).

A 2012 College Sports Madness All-Big South Preseason Second Team selection, the senior captain was twice named to the Soccer For A Cure All-Tournament Team and earned 2011 Big South Conference Championship All-Tournament Team honors. In 2008, he received the inaugural Wilson Soccer Alumni Association Scholarship and was a member of the Disney Soccer Showcase National Championship squad.

Krotee spent three seasons with Reading United AC U-20 from 2006-09. Prior to that, he was a member of the Olympics Development Program First Team (USA EPYSA) from 2002-04.

Krotee earned his masters degree in international marketing from Saint Joseph's University in Fall 2015. He earned his undergraduate degree in Health/Wellness from Gardner-Webb University in May 2012.

Mike Enghofer

Division 1

Assistant coach Mike Enghofer comes to Valpo in his first year on staff with the Men Soccer team

Before joining Valparaiso University, Enghofer spent the spring of 2019 serving as the top assistant at Indiana University Northwest where he helped train and recruit for the program as it set to compete in its inaugural season in the NAIA powerhouse Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Prior to that, Enghofer served as the head coach at Wheeler High School from 2017 - 2018

He received his degree in Mathematics Teaching in 2015 from Purdue Fort Wayne where he enjoyed a decorated playing career for the Mastodons.

During his time in Fort Wayne playing for PFW, Enghofer was a regular first team choice and helped lead the Mastodons to three summit league tournament appearances.

Enghofer currently resides in Valparaiso, Indiana.

Drew Munoz

Division 1

Munoz joined Chad Duernbergers staff in Spring 2023 following a year at Trinity after prior stints at Dartmouth College. Prior to Dartmouth, Munoz was an assistant and goalkeeper coach at Bridgton Academy in Maine. At Dartmouth, Munoz created and managed set pieces plays and defensive restart assignments, organized road trip logistics, and managed the team's social media accounts. He served as the recruiting coordinator for Trinity Head Men's Soccer Coach Methembe Ndlovu.

Munoz graduated from Bates College in 2019 where earned a bachelor's degree in rhetoric. He was a four-year letterwinner on the pitch for the Bobcats, started 26 games and earned team rookie of the year and NESCAC All-Sportsmanship awards. As a senior captain, Munoz helped Bates earn its first NESCAC Tournament appearance in eight seasons. He also served as the team's community liaison and as vice president and treasurer for the Bates College Special Olympics Club. Munoz holds his United States Soccer Federation D License and Grassroots License.

Andrew Storton

Head Coach

Andrew Storton is entering his seventh season as an associate men's soccer coach at Connecticut College in 2025. He assists head coach Reuben Burk with all aspects of the program.

In 2024, Storton helped lead the Camels to the NESCAC Title, a 14-3-7 record, and a return to the Men's Soccer National Title game. In the NESCAC Championship, the Camels defeated hosted Middlebury 3-1, to hand the Panthers their first loss of the season, while bringing home the first NESCAC Championship for a men's team. Following the season, Storton and head coach Reuben Burk were named NCAA Men's Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year for the second time by United Soccer Coaches.

Storton was an integral part of the most successful season in school history, as the Camels went 19-4-1 and captured the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer National Championship, joining Burk in being named USC National Coaching Staff of the Year. After securing an overtime victory against Washington & Lee in the semifinals, Conn College prevailed over Amherst in penalty kicks in the title game. It marked the institution's first team national championship in any sport. 

In addition to their NCAA success, the Camels finished atop the NESCAC regular season standings, hosted the league's championship weekend for the first time, and advanced to the championship match of the NESCAC Tournament for the first time in program history. The team's 19 victories were also a school record and bettered the previous mark of 14 established in 1978. For their efforts, Burk and Storton were named the 2021 NCAA Men's Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches.

In his first season at Conn, Storton helped lead the program to a successful postseason run that included wins over Catholic, then-No. 3 Johns Hopkins, and Swarthmore. At the time, the Elite Eight appearance marked only the third time a Connecticut College program had advanced to the quarterfinal round of an NCAA Tournament in any sport.

Storton is currently working towards his Masters in Sport Management at University of Florida and graduated magna cum laude in three years from Mitchell College in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in sports and fitness management and a minor in psychology. He holds a UEFA "B" License along with several other coaching licenses and resides in Niantic with his wife, Hannah, and sons, Oliver and William

Tj Kostecky

TJ Kostecky arrived at Bard in July of 2019.

He came to Bard after 20 years as the head coach at Div. I LIU-Brooklyn, where he led the Blackbirds to the 2018 NCAA Tournament in his final season there. During his tenure there, he won three Northeast Conference titles, made three NCAA Tournament appearances and was the NEC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.

As successful as his teams have been on the pitch, Kosteckys squads were also devoted in the classroom. His 2003 & 2012 teams posted the highest team grade point average in the nation. The 2008 & 2015 squads was awarded the NEC Team Academic Award for posting the highest GPA among mens soccer teams in the conference. The 2011 & 2013 teams were distinguished by the conference with the NEC Sportsmanship Award.

Kostecky has a proven track record of rebuilding programs, having engineered successful turnarounds at each of his prior coaching stops. Prior to LIU, he took over an Appalachian State program in Boone, N.C., that had suffered four consecutive losing seasons prior to Kosteckys hiring in 1998. In his only season at the school, he led the Mountaineers to a 13-8 mark in 1998, marking the best first-year record for a coach in the programs history of over 40 years. For his efforts, he was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year.

Kostecky arrived in Boone following a successful run as head coach and director of athletics at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C., from 1994-97. He was handed the reins of a program that had suffered eight straight losing seasons before he led the team to a 46-25-7 record and captured two Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference championships. Kostecky was named CVAC Coach of the Year in 1997 and mentored one All-American and nine all-conference honorees during his tenure.

He began his collegiate coaching career at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he led the Highlanders from 1988-93. NJIT compiled a 67-37-11 mark in his six years, capturing conference championships in 1991 and 1992 and making four ECAC postseason trips. Kosteckys accomplishments at NJIT came in his native New Jersey, where he starred scholastically at Woodbridge Township High School.

Tactically, Kosteckys attacking practice sessions involve a system called Vision Training that he and business partner Len Bilous developed several years ago. This method helps players make smart, well-informed decisions by improving their field vision.

A featured clinician around the world, Kostecky conducted a coaching seminar in Masku, Finland, in March of 2005 on Vision Training. In early 2005, he released a video under the same name for players and coaches to use. Since its release, it has become one of the most requested coaching video's in the country and abroad.


TJ is currently finishing up a self-help book through Benbella books publishing  that's set to be released in the winter of 2023. The title of the book is "Eyes up! A soccer guru's guide to scoring big in the game of life". 

Throughout his career, Kostecky has been an instrumental figure in facilitating the growth of soccer in America. From 1987-94 he was a coach for New Jerseys Olympic Development Team and was responsible for the training and selection of the states top players for the United States National Team. When he accepted his post at Pfeiffer, he filled a similar role with North Carolinas Olympic Development squad. Several of the players he mentored have played succeeded at the international level, including former U.S. National Team captain Claudio Reyna, and moved onto professional leagues such as Major League Soccer.

Kostecky has also worked with U.S. Mens and Womens National Team members, including Julie Foudy, a captain of the 1999 Womens World Cup Champions. He conducted an instructional clinic for inner city children at the 1998 NCAA Division I Championships in Richmond, Va., for the NCAA Youth Education Through Sports Program and was again a guest clinician for YES at the 1999 and 2000 NCAA Championships.

In 1989, Kostecky founded Soccer Start, a youth soccer program for inner city children. He served as the programs National Chairman until 1993. The program continues to identify and cultivate the abundance of talent in the inner-cities. He was appointed World Cup 94 Committee Chair by then New Jersey Governor Jim Florio and coordinated training site activities in the Metropolitan area for each international team.

A former all-state performer at Woodbridge, he was inducted into the schools Hall of Fame in 1995. He played midfield on the mens soccer team at East Stroudsburg University and received a bachelors degree in health and physical education in 1983. He completed his masters degree at East Stroudsburg in the same field in 1992.

Brian Wright

Brian Wright enters his tenth year as Occidental College's men's soccer head assistant coach in the 2025-26 season.

Prior to joining the Occidental staff, Wright was an assistant coach for Caltech's men's soccer team for two seasons from 2014-2016.

A former Olympic Development Program (ODP) standout in southern California, Wright has been playing soccer since the age of five. He quickly knew soccer was his passion. His passion, combined with discipline and dedication, became the motivation to earn him a division 1 soccer scholarship to San Jose State University. Wright has played in several youth tournaments throughout Europe and has received world-renowned training from some of the best coaches at the professional level. This influence helped shape his personal philosophy and style of coaching. At the age of 17, he was offered a professional contract with Belgian side Club Brugge. Wright received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Cal State University, Northridge in 2007.

After capping off his collegiate career, Wright went on to train with the Los Angeles Galaxy as a reserve, followed by a stint in USL League One. In 2016, he completed his master's in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine. He currently holds a U.S. Soccer Federation A-Senior Coaching License.

Bryan Kim

Division 3

Bryan Kim '20 started working with the Carleton goalkeepers during the 2021 season. His top highlight on the playing field came in the finals of the 2018 MIAC Playoffs. The Knights played Augsubrg to a 1-1 draw, and Kim stopped a pair of shots as Carleton prevailed 4-3 in the shootout to advance to the NCAA Championships.

Scott Phipps

Scott Phipps is entering his third season as the head men's soccer coach at Thomas More University during the 2024-25 academic year.

In his second season, Phipps led the Saints in their forst season at the NCAA Division II and Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Saints saw an overall record of 10-7-3 and a G-MAC record of 7-5-2. Thomas More reached the G-MAC Semifinals where they fell to the #2 seeded Lake Erie Storm in PKs. Under the direction of Phipps, five Saints earned CSC Academic All-District honors, two earned All-Conference honors, and Karim Slim earned G-MAC Freshman of the Year.

In his first season at the helm, Phipps led the Thomas More Saints to an overall record of 10-6-2 and qualified for the Mid South Conference Tournament where they reached the Quarterfinals. The Saint's finished in 7th place of the MSC and had two 2nd Team All-MSC selections. 

Phipps came to Thomas More after spending the previous seven seasons as the Alderson Broaddus head men's soccer coach. At Alderson Broaddus Phipps coached seven All-Freshmen team members, two Freshman of the Year, nine All-Conference first team members, nine All-Conference second team members, two All-Conference honorable mention players, 2015 Defensive Player of the Year, 2016 Offensive Player of the Year, two ECAC second team members, five NSCAA All-Region players, and the ECAC Rookie of the year.

Under the guidance of Phipps, the Battlers qualified for the Great Midwest Athletic Championships in six straight seasons (2014-2019). Alderson Broaddus would win the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship in the 2016 season and earned a bid to the GMAC championship game in 2015 in route to earning GMAC Coach of the Year and coaching the conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Before Alderson Broaddus Phipps would spend five seasons as the first assistant at Rockhurst University. He also served as the team's recruiting coordinator and was responsible for scouting and opponent analysis.

While at RU, Phipps helped develop a program that won four conference championships, two regional championships and made three trips to the NCAA tournament. The Hawks compiled a 70-25-10 record while Phipps was on the staff and reached the NCAA Division II men's soccer national semifinal in 2013.

The Hawks were one of Division II men's soccer's elite programs during Phipps' five seasons at RU. RU was a Final Four participant in 2013, reached the National Tournament Regional Final in 2012, were Midwest Regional Champions (2011, 2013), captured Great Lakes Valley Conference  Tournament titles (2012, 2013) and was GLVC champion in 2011 and 2012.

Prior to his stint with the Hawks, he served as the head men's soccer coach and assistant women's soccer coach at Division III Buena Vista University (2007-09). He coached two All-Conference players with the Beavers.

Phipps was the graduate assistant women's soccer coach at Hastings College (2006-07). While at Hastings College, he coached four All-Conference players, recruited a future First Team All-American and helped the team qualify for the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament.

He spent the 2005-06 season as the men's and women's assistant soccer coach at Iowa Central Community College. ICCC was a 2005 women's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament qualifier and finished seventh overall. Phipps coached a pair of National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Americans and eight All-Conference players at ICCC.

Phipps played four collegiate seasons at University of Alabama-Huntsville and Park University (Mo.). He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from Park University in 1999 and his Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Hastings College in 2008.

Scott Martin is in his 4th season as the men's soccer assistant coach at Pfeiffer University.

With over a decade of coaching experience at the youth club ranks, he returns to the college game for the first time since 2015. Previously a member of John Keating's staff at Belmont Abbey College, Martin was a first-team assistant and led the reserve team program.

Martins's soccer career and exposure to the top levels of the game received a boost when he joined Total Football Analysis as a tactical analyst.

Since joining TFA in September 2019, he has made a meteoric climb to senior status, featuring in the magazine each month and working on many client projects, including for EPL, MLS, and A-League clubs.

In addition to coaching and Total Football Analysis content, Martin was also a Match Analyst for Vélez Club de Fútbol for three years, helping them earn promotion from the Spanish Tercera División to the Segunda División RFEF. His time at Vélez CF has also included contributions to the scouting department.

Martin has also published and edited soccer books. His initial contribution to a publication was taking the lead in the "Real Madrid: Preseason Soccer Prospectus 2020/21" project.

Since then, he has penned "Revitalizing Real Madrid: The Tactics and Stats behind Zinedine Zidane's Success" and co-authored "The Soccer Parenting Handbook: Help Your Kids Get Better While Keeping Your Sanity" with Chris Mumford, a UNC-Chapel Hill professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Martin is also a co-founder of The Football Legacy Magazine, which relives the performances of legendary teams through a tactical lens.

While playing philosophies and tactical systems are his soccer passions, it's supporting his players and helping them develop on and off the field that drives his coaching.

Martin believes that culture is the primary driver of performance, which requires close attention to leadership development, identifying internal motivations, and crafting a supportive, yet competitive environment.

Martin currently holds his USSF B License and is an IPSO Foundations of Football Scouting certificate holder. He has experience consulting national and professional teams, as well as top D1s.

Will Finnie

Will Finnie joined the mens Staff as a volunteer assistant in 2020. Finnie brings experience working with elite youth soccer players in Marin County, in addition to his playing experience. 

Finnie graduated from Dominican University in 2019 and was a goalkeeper for the mens soccer team for two seasons. Finnie accumulated 15 appearances for the Penguins, earning PacWest defender of the week honors in the 2019 season. 

Prior to attending Dominican, Finnie tended the net for College of Marin in Kentfield for two seasons. In his first season, he led the Mariners to their first ever postseason tournament berth and highest ever finish in the Bay Valley Conference, second place. In his second season he led the state in total saves while maintaining an 85% save percentage. 

Today, Finnie lives in San Rafael and continues to coach elite youth teams and goalkeepers at Marin FC and Redwood High School.

Brooks is entering his fifth year as an assistant coach and eighth year overall with the program having served as a graduate assistant for three seasons.

Over his seven seasons, Carey has reached four National tournaments, reaching the final four in 2018. Carey won the Southern States Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship in 2016, 2017 & 2018 and won the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament Championship in 2016, 2018, 2019 & 2021.

Prior to William Carey, Brooks coached in Boston, Massachusetts where he coached a U18 club team at Global Premier Soccer as well as working as a Goalkeeping coach.

Before coming to the United States, Brooks played for youth academy club teams such as Plymouth Argyle, Bristol Rovers & Cambridge United. Brooks also represented Hampshire at senior level.

Brooks is originally from Cornwall, England. He holds a bachelors degree in Sport Science and Coaching from Southampton Solent University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from William Carey University. He currently holds a NSCAA Premier Coaching License.

Dejan Mladenovic enters his 15th season as a member of the John Carroll men's soccer coaching staff in the 2020-21 school year.  

He is currently the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Blue Streaks as well as a visible member of the Sports Information Department.

Max Fowler

Max Fowler was tabbed Allegheny College's assistant men's soccer coach prior to the 2022 fall season.

Fowler joins the Gators with a long history of success at all levels of soccer. In 2017, he founded the Athletic Club of Sloan's Lake, an adult soccer club in the Sloan's Lake neighborhood of Lakewood, Colorado. In his role as director, Fowler oversaw all aspects of the club, including all business and marketing functions, in addition to competitive and match day operations. Sloan's Lake has competed in the Colorado Premier League, the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL), the U.S. Open Cup, and U.S. Amateur Cup.

An Ohio native, Fowler also spent time in the Centennial State as a coach for the Colorado Rapids Academy from 2011-13. He was the head coach for the U18 and U12 boys' teams. From 2013-15, he assisted the Division III women's team at Johnson and Wales University in Denver.

Fowler began coaching at the high school level. He was named the youngest head coach in school history at both the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School in Chardon, Ohio, in 1997, and at Kenston High School in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, in 1999. While at Kenston, he earned league Coach of the Year accolades.

As a student-athlete in the mid-90s, Fowler suited up for Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. As a non-traditional student in 2011, Fowler graduated from the Metropolitan State University of Denver with an arts degree. He also possesses a National B License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).

Matthew Deemer came to Portland ahead of the 2023 season as an assistant coach for Portland Pilots Mens Soccer, signing on as the recruiting coordinator and goalkeeper coach for the Pilots. Deemer helped guide the Pilots to a 12-5 record overall and a 5-2 record in WCC play, helping Portland make their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Portland earned a first-round bye for the first time since 1988 after earning a 11-seed in the tournament. With Deemer's guidance, Portland soccer had 10 Pilots earn All-WCC honors and three earn WCC awards, including the WCC Defender of the Year, WCC Midfielder of the Year and WCC Freshman of the Year. Portland had three United Soccer Coaches All-West Region selections, two All-Americans and Portland's first MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist since 2002. Three Pilots were taken in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft as well, the most in program history in a single draft.




Prior to joining the Pilots, Deemer spent three seasons from 2021-23 at the University of San Diego, helping guide the Toreros as an assistant coach to one of the best seasons in program history. The Toreros went 6-0-1 in conference play to finish undefeated against WCC opponents for the first time since 2000, secure the WCC title and qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014. Working primarily with the goalkeepers, Deemer coached the WCC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year and was named to the United Soccer Coaches West Region Coaching Staff of the Year. San Diego also had the WCC Defender of the Year, the WCC Freshman of the Year, 13 All-WCC selections and two All-West Region selections under Deemers guidance. Before joining San Diego, Deemer served as an assistant coach at the University of Saint Katherine's for a year after spending three years as an assistant coach from 2018-20 at San Diego State University.




Both during and after his four-year career at Chapman University as a goalkeeper, Deemer coached at various levels from high school to MLS Next. He began his coaching career as the Chapman Womens Club Team Head Coach in 2015 and also was the head JV coach for Villa Park High School from 2015-17. During that time, he was also an assistant coach for LA Galaxy San Diego. Deemer was named head coach of Villa Parks varsity team for the 2017-18 season, helping them reach the CIF Finals and earning CIF Coach of the Year honors in the process. Deemer had a stellar career in the CIF as a goalkeeper for Carlsbad High School and is the only person to win both CIF Player of the Year and CIF Coach of the Year in a four-year span.

Will Greer has been the head coach of the Lawrence University men's soccer team since 2016.

Greer brought a wealth of coaching experience at multiple levels and a diverse network of soccer connections. Greer was serving as the youth coaching director at Rush Wisconsin Soccer Club in Middleton, Wis., and as a head coach in the Olympic Development Program at the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association.

Greer was named interim head coach in September 2016 but was a familiar face within the program. Greer served as an assistant coach with the Vikings for six seasons from 2007-12. The Vikings made three Midwest Conference Tournament appearances during that stretch.

Greer, a 2003 Marian University graduate, led Lawrence to a 5-7-1 record in games he coached in 2016, and the Vikings finished with a 6-10-1 overall mark. He was then named the head coach in January 2017.

Greer and his wife, Jodi, live in Appleton and have three children.

John Ciano will begin his sixth season at the helm of The College of Saint Rose mens soccer program this autumn after being appointed in the spring of 2016. The 11th mentor in program annals, Ciano has meticulously positioned the Golden Knights within the upper echelon of the Northeast-10 Conference and on the precipice of national prominence.
 
Saint Rose has increased its win total throughout each of Cianos previous four years, which culminated in 2019 with the most successful season in the programs 38-year history.
 
The Golden Knights advanced to their first NE10 Championship semifinal and final matches, had a school record five players earn seven different All-Conference awards, recorded the first 10-win campaign in school annals, and on three occasions were ranked as high as sixth in the United Soccer Coaches East Region Weekly Poll. Saint Rose also finished second in the NE10 with a team 1.16 goals-against-average and lost only one home match all year.
 
The future holds promise as well. Three-fourths of last years roster was comprised of freshmen and sophomores.
Looking back, Saint Rose had a breakout season in 2018. The Golden Knights finished 8-7-1 overall and were ranked among the top eight teams in the Region in three separate United Soccer Coaches weekly polls.
 
Three years ago, Ciano guided Saint Rose to a sixth place finish in the NE10, which represented its then best ever finish throughout the programs 18-year NE10 tenure. It also represented the programs first postseason berth under Ciano.
 
Prior to his arrival on Western Avenue, Ciano served as an assistant coach for three years at nearby Siena College where he was engaged in recruiting, tactics and personnel decisions, goalkeeping training, analyzing game film, and running youth and college prospect camps.
 
He helped guide the Saints to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) semifinals in 2015 and a 10-win campaign in 2014. Sienas 10 wins were tied for the second most in school history. The Saints furthermore put together their first-ever undefeated home schedule (6-0-2) and were among those teams receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll for two weeks in mid-September. Ciano, whose duties primarily revolved around the squads goalkeepers, helped mentor 2014 MAAC All-Rookie pick John Weiss who registered six clean sheets, one shy of the school record. In addition, Weiss was a two-time MAAC and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree.
 
Ciano, a four-year starter at Central Connecticut State (2005) and Manhattan (2006-08), previously worked as an assistant for former Siena head coach Cesar Markovic at NJIT in Newark, N.J. He managed the Highlanders goalkeepers who posted a 1.67 goals-against-average in 2012, after recording a 2.03 GAA the previous season; and a 1.44 GAA in 2013. Ciano also helped Markovic lead NJIT to its best ever NCAA Division I record with a 10-9 slate in 2012.
 
Ciano began his coaching career at Manhattanville where he helped direct the Valiants to a two-year 23-11-2 slate in 2009-10 and the 2009 Freedom Conference Regular-Season Championship.
 
Ciano played his freshman campaign at Central Connecticut State before moving on to Manhattan for his final three years. He appeared in 46 matches, with 45 starts, was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, and graduated cum laude with a bachelors degree in physical education.
 
Ciano, who is originally from Syosset N.Y., has played semi-professional soccer for the Brooklyn Knights of the United States Soccer League PDL.
 
He holds a USSF B License, and United Soccer Coaches Premier and Advanced National Goalkeeping Diplomas. Ciano is a coaching education instructor for Eastern New York and US Soccer, and furthermore has experience with the NY Elite Alleycats FC Soccer Club, and the U.S. Region 1 and Eastern New York Olympic Development squads.

Jordan Finneran

Jordan Finneran currently serves as an Assistant Mens Soccer Coach at Georgetown College, an NAIA program with a proud tradition of athletic and academic excellence. Joining the staff in 2025, Finneran brings a diverse coaching and playing background that spans multiple levels of the gamefrom English semi-professional football to NCAA Division III and elite youth development in the U.S.

At Georgetown, Finneran plays a key role in training session design, tactical preparation, recruitment, and match-day operations. His coaching philosophy emphasizes technical quality, tactical discipline, and holistic player development both on and off the field.

Before joining Georgetown, Finneran was part of the historic Spalding University mens soccer staff that captured the programs first-ever SLIAC Championship and secured a berth in the 2024 NCAA Division III National Tournament. His responsibilities included tactical analysis, set-piece planning, matchday management, and detailed scouting reports for opposition teams.

Finneran also served as Assistant Coach at Hanover College, where he led recruiting initiatives, conducted on-field coaching, and helped the team secure commitments from multiple prospects in just two months. At both institutions, he made an immediate impact with his work ethic, attention to detail, and passion for mentorship.

In addition to his collegiate coaching roles, Finneran has been heavily involved in youth development, most recently coaching at Mockingbird Valley Premier Soccer Club. His 2009 boys squad won the 2025 Presidents Cup, represented Kentucky at regionals, and secured the Louisville Cup title with a dominant 6-1 record in the KPL Premier Division.
